Full test in Multihulls World N°196: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/motor/vandal-46-explorer-a-4x4-of-the-seas-in-catamaran-mode âē The Vandal Marine brand was created by Dutch manufacturer Tenderworks, who specialize in tenders for megayachts. The main idea behind the project was to bring to market a true âall-terrainâ powercat, inspired by workboats and featuring an innovative design with asymmetrical hulls linked by a central foil capable of optimizing the equation that combines speed/consumption/passage though the water. The aluminum hulls are protected by impressive thick scantlings, and the welded parts throughout the deck are impressive. The 46 Explorer is fitted out in a somewhat rustic fashion, with a single, relatively spartan double cabin. However, a number of customization options, such as the fabric enclosure for the flybridge enhance the level of comfort. According to the manufacturer, at 20 knots, fuel consumption is reduced by 30%, giving a range of over 200 miles. Itâs worth noting that despite the foiling design, the Vandal is still perfectly capable of taking the ground â youâre either an explorer or youâre not... A second 60-foot (18 m) model is currently under study. Full test of the Vandal 46 Explorer to appear in a forthcoming issue. âē TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Vandal Marine Architect: Jutson Marine Design Length overall: 46â (14 m) Waterline length: 39â (12 m) Beam: 14â (4.4 m) Draft: 2â6â (0.8 m) Light displacement: 26,015 lbs (11.8 t) Powertrain: 2 x 425 HP Yamaha XTO Cruising speed: 20/28 knots Max speed: 40 knots Fuel: 333 US gal (1,260 l) Water: 79 US gal (300 l) âē Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld âē Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! From Ancient Routes to Modern Marvels: Discover the Rio-Antirrio Strait The Patras Bridge (Rio-Antirrio Bridge) is located at the strait of Rio-Antirrio, at the transition between the Gulf of Patras and the Gulf of Corinth. The first person to officially cross the Rio-Antirrio Bridge was a torchbearer as part of the Olympic Torch Relay for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The Rio-Antirrio Bridge is one of the worldâs longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges. âĸ It connects the Peloponnese peninsula (Rio) with mainland Greece (Antirrio), near the city of Patras. âĸ Officially opened in August 2004, just before the Athens Olympic Games. âĸ Named after Charilaos Trikoupis, a 19th-century Greek Prime Minister who first proposed the idea of such a bridge.
