When purchasing a catamaran there are a lot things to worry about, so the more you know going into the purchase process, the less stress you’ll face. Having a basic understanding of the contract is the first step in the process. The entire IYBA Purchase and Sale Agreement can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for a first time catamaran buyer. If you’re not certain of the terms in an agreement, we highly recommend consulting an attorney. In our opinion, the most important thing to understand are the different dates in the agreement. In this video we’ll briefly talk about these four different set of dates, and what they mean. For a copy of the IYBA agreement we use please shoot us an email. The River Class is the oldest class racing on Strangford Lough and the fleet of 12 boats which first raced at Royal Ulster Yacht Club have now moved to Strangford Lough Yacht Club (SLYC). The boats were designed by naval architect Alfred Mylne and their origins trace back to 1919 when Belfast Lough sailors were looking for a simple and elegant one-design class to race. The pre war Mylne designs have lovey long line that making them timeless beauties amongst classic boat fleets. The owner of these timeless racer maintain traditions of the early days of racing ensure that the boats continue to race hard under strict one design rules ignoring the temptation to allow modern ropes and sail clothes to alter a formula that was worked so well for over a century of racing. As classic yacht racing has become more popular it is hard to go past the River class which has so much to offer.
