Day 11. Pretty exhausting day. The night started gusty, and we ended up hand steering most of it just to keep the boat going downwind. At some point we managed to adjust the sails and get things a bit more balanced, which helped a lot. In the morning, we set up wing on wing and decided to try a warp line to stabilize the boat. We used about 100 feet of line, a chain, and a fender… and it actually made a big difference. The boat settled down a lot more, which was a relief. Later, the wind shifted, so we had to change things up again and kept adapting as the day went on. It’s been a rough one. Five meter waves have been pretty normal, and we’ve been soaked more times than I can count from waves crashing over. Most of the day we’ve been sitting on the floor to eat, because it’s the only place that feels stable. But… we’ve also been flying. We hit a new speed record, averaging around 7 knots for most of the day, which is pretty wild. So yes, fun to go fast. But also very tiring. Day 13. Time to reset. The past few days have been heavy. No sleep, rough conditions, low energy… and you could feel it in the mood. So today we decided to change that. Started the day with some yoga. Nothing crazy, just enough to wake up the body a bit. Then we played some games, took our minds off everything for a while. At some point we put on The Greatest Showman which felt like exactly the right choice. And from there it just turned into a proper reset day. Brigadeiro. Karaoke. A full dance party. And of course, a ukulele concert. It sounds a bit chaotic… but it worked. It reminded us why we enjoy this. Why we like traveling together. How good it can be when we actually choose to make it good, instead of just waiting for it to feel good. And honestly, it shifted everything. So we made a new rule: from now on, at least one dance party a day is mandatory. Day 15. Started the day with absolutely no wind. We were literally drifting… even going a bit backwards at times. Just slowly turning in circles, waiting for something to change. But eventually, the wind came back. Slowly, steadily, and we could start sailing again. I spent most of the day cooking. Prepping food for the next few days, making things easier for future us. Lunches, dinners, getting ahead while things were calm. And then… I made a chocolate croissant. As someone who’s gluten-free, that’s been one of the things I’ve missed the most. So being able to make one, on a boat, in the middle of the ocean, felt kind of unreal. Used the Omnia oven, and honestly, I love it. It just makes life out here feel a bit more normal. We ended the day on a high note. Karaoke, singing, just enjoying ourselves again. But before the night, it was back to business. The barometer dropped, which usually means one thing out here… more wind coming. A low pressure system on the way. So we reefed, prepped the boat, and got ready.
