J109 Going to Red gliding by GBR 7737 from the IRC 0 fleet during Volvo Cork Week 2024. The crew on the downwind boat was calm as the boats converged, making only a small adjust to ensure they stay clear. Shortly after the close cross it was time to take on the lay line and get after the leaders of the IRC1 race who had got the jump on the redline racing team at the start. SCOOCH is nicely updated and well maintained Bermuda 40 Classic yawl, recently donated to Maine Maritime Academy and available for a three-year lease-to-own charter. From 2022-24, Crocker’s Boatyard in Massachusetts completed a $200,000 refit to include a 40hp Nanni (Kubota) diesel engine, new air conditioning with revere cycle heat, almost all new wiring, new SeaFrost refrigeration, new Garmin electronics, new head system and holding tank, and new water heater, plus many other smaller ancillary and connected items.
