Living on a sailboat is beautiful—but it’s not all sunsets and sea turtles. It’s hard work. You’re constantly fixing, cleaning, and problem-solving in tight spaces, often in bad weather. But there’s something raw and real about it—every scraped knuckle and salty shower makes you stronger. You trade comfort for freedom, and the reward is a life that’s full of challenge, adventure, and deep connection.
Peter Harburg’s 100 foot Reichel Pugh supermaxi Black Jack left McConaghy Boat’s shed in Gosford showing her modified hull and new features. It was a millimetre perfect de-shed with very tight tolerances and in windy conditions. A credit to Reichel-Pugh, Brett Ellis, McConaghy Boats, Sydney Composites, the Black Jack Team and all others involved. (Photo credits Bow Caddy Media and aerials by McLeish Group).
