Six years ago, Remi Lavergne stepped on board Tres Hombres for the first time. Remi was signing on as a Trainee for a three month voyage that would bring him to the Island of Barbados. By the time he arrived, he was feeling more useful on the ship than he had ever felt anywhere on land and his plan to go backpacking suddenly turned into sailing Tres Hombres back across the Ocean and bring her home with her belly full of rum and cacao. Six years later, after more than 45 000 nautical miles at sea, 10 Ocean crossings and many encounters, he is the Captain of the proud ship and a wonderful crew of salty and hungry sailors.

The Tres Hombres crew visited our coffee producer in the mountains of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It's Colombia's main organic coffee-producing region. You will find plantations of Indigenous groups, rural organizations, and small independent plantations. Lots of speciality coffee will be loaded onto the Tres Hombres and cross the ocean to Amsterdam. After being roasted in a traditional way the coffee will be available in our webshop. Our engineless sail cargo ship Tres Hombres rounded the Atlantic for the eighth time, her belly full with melasses, cacao beans, green coffee beans and barrels of our finest rum. Tres Hombres sailed almost seven months, several thousand miles and had an unexpected stop in Nova Scotia.

Nordlys, manoeuvered entirely by the power of the wind is possibly the worlds oldest cargo ship (1873) still working. She is currently operating in the European coastal trade. Originally a fishing trawler, nowadays she is able to carry a maximum of 30 tons of rum, wine, olive oil, cider or other goods. Besides that Nordlys will raise awareness about the huge amounts of pollution, created by the modern shipping industry and affect positive change in the way goods are shipped around the world.
