We left Smoo Cave and began one of the most dramatic drives of our Scotland adventure. The journey took us through incredible Highland landscapes, past the spectacular Kylesku Bridge, and eventually all the way to the Isle of Skye. Scotland certainly didn’t disappoint. We experienced wild winds, dramatic skies, huge mountain valleys, and even spotted two majestic stags early in the morning. Along the way we also saw an incredible double rainbow, and discovered a stunning waterfall near Loch Cluanie on the A87 road. Finally we crossed the iconic Skye Bridge and reached the Isle of Skye — a place we’ve always wanted to visit. This video is mostly a road trip through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Scottish Highlands. Day 1 of our Scotland adventure starts early… very early. We’re heading from Hampshire up to Scotland to begin the NC500, with a long day of driving ahead of us. After a broken night’s sleep in a motorway stop (thanks to loud cars and even louder exhausts), we push on north with seven-plus hours still to go. Somewhere past Birmingham, stopping at a quiet reservoir, the journey really begins to change. Motorways slowly give way to hills, valleys and that first proper feeling of Scotland — including the moment we finally pass the “Welcome to Scotland” sign. By the end of the day, the miles are worth it. We arrive at an incredible spot at the end of Loch Ness, with a private beach, a stream, space for a small campfire and views that make every tired mile disappear.
