Cruising down the FL coast on our way to Marathon. Video captured by our buddy boat of our sails up and cruising the ocean blue! What a ride!
We are officially off the dock and on the hook, taking the puppies for a potty breach and beach play time break... New way of life happens for them now.
We are off the dock today with only 4 days left. All shopping is done, car is sold, our slip has been cleaned, boat filled with fuel, water and provisions... Now off to the next adventure
We torn the outside protective covering on the Jib and we also broke one of the davits for the Dinghy... Real life issues while cruising.
Andy and his dad jokes... I mean really... Ok this one was cute! I needed ice cream afterwards.
Final Day sail with Jib sail out cruising today.
Andy tells me another dad joke, before coffee! Really?!
Andy and his usual dad jokes... This might become a thing... Let us know if you like it.
Today we sold the car! This was our last possession that we no longer needed as we were going to start our cruising journey. Little did we know just how emotional this was for us and hit us harder than we thought it would.
Final food run to Costco & Sams as we are leaving in a few days...
Today we start our new way of shopping with our Dry Bags from Mantus. How much food can we fit in here?
We did it! We finally did it! Time to do the 2nd sea trial. We have had the propeller adjusted and pitched correctly and installed and it's time to test out the new prop and engine to see if we can leave the dock.
Today we are sitting at anchor in Hilton Head where its just plain too hot to be outside so instead we are working and making our own kind of fun. Ever wonder what happens when a short video is released? This is what we do... In less than 6 minutes, refreshing the screen to see what happens...
When you want to get off the. boat to play and explore but you also need to work on videos and get some editing done... How do we handle it?
We narrowly avoided yet another fire on this boat. The wires to the generator switch were burned and we were very lucky to not have had a fire happen. Let me know your thoughts....
While in St Augustine, our generator starting overheating. We needed time to have it cool down to figure out what the issue was. As we were preparing to leave the next morning, we decided to wait to look at it until we made it to our next planned stop that was longer than an overnight. Once we arrived at our next anchorage, we and by we, I mean Andy took a look at the generator. Besides a broken impeller he found a serious issue with a burn that fused the wires together on the main generator switch for shore/gen power. Real life boat issues that you deal with on anchor...
Caught in an unexpected afternoon thunderstorm with up to 30 knots sustained winds and we were holding solid with our Mantus Anchor and Bridle!
Hold onto your hat there people.... Hear we are minding our own business working in the boat only to be slammed into the "scare storm of the year* Currently in West Palm Beach, FL waiting out the storm to travel to our next destination. Rain started pouring, white caps of 2-3 feet in the intercoastal and things are falling as we are heeling to the side...
Almost time to leave... Less than 2 weeks and time to prepare final food storage for our trip, where we are going to wind up and how long to get there ~ we have no idea but we will certainly be eating good!
Finally the Ceiling Panels are installed! What a difference and one huge step closer to being ready to leave the dock.
