Designed for coastal cruising and competitive racing, the Spirit R30 sailing yacht has the style and beauty of the larger Spirits, with the fun-factor of a fast and easy to handle day sailor. The 9.15m Spirit R30 is fully electric and is the first Spirit hull to have flax lay-up and bio resin incorporated into her build. The Spirit R30 was constructed from responsibly sourced, FSC*-certified sapele ringframes and Douglas fir planking. The hull was then made water-tight using flax material, which was laid on the timber and sealed using PRO-SET bio resin. The fully electric Spirit R30 has a Torqeedo Cruise 4.0 FP electric drive system powered by lithium ion batteries and a Torqeedo 650W battery charger, giving a range of circa 16nm at 5 knots. Increased range can be gained with optional additional battery capacity if preferred. The batteries are recharged by shore power or via solar panels that mount over the cockpit cover. At 9.15m long with a light displacement of 1.7 tonnes, the Spirit R30 has options for a fixed or lifting keel and rudder. The yacht can also easily be transported on a road trailer adding to the versatility of this simple yet classically beautiful design. Spirit Yachts has announced a partnership with EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM) and Universal Pictures International. The partnership sees a Spirit 46 sailing yacht feature in the upcoming film No Time To Die in UK cinemas from 30th September and in the U.S. from 8th October 2021. Suffolk-based Spirit Yachts' partnership with the James Bond films began when a Spirit 54 yacht was chosen to feature in the 2006 film Casino Royale, in which James Bond and Vesper Lynd can be seen cruising into Venice onboard a Spirit 54. From ringframes to rollover. Watch the hull build of the Spirit R30 day sailor. Unlike other Spirits, the Spirit R30 is the first yacht to use flax and bio resin in her build, which is an exciting development in the continuing drive to lower the carbon footprint of all Spirit yachts. The hull was constructed using Sipo Mahogany ringframes overlaid with Douglas fir planking, all from sustainably managed forests. Instead of a fibreglass external skin, flax material was bonded to the hull using a new bio-based epoxy by PRO-SET®. The hull was then rolled over ready for internal fit out.

Watch Spirit Yachts' first fully electric sailing yacht, the Spirit 44CR(e) on the water and explore her interior. CR stands for Cruiser-Racer design, which provides added headroom and beam for comfort and entertaining space. The yacht has an 'e' beside her name as she has an electric drive, as well as a range of other features to lower the environmental footprint of the yacht. Two Solbian solar panels are integrated into the Lignia decking and colour match the hull, so they blend with the style of the yacht. The panels charge Oceanvolt 48VDC batteries (total capacity 30.4kWh, made up of x16 1.9kWh batteries), which power her Oceanvolt ServoProp15 sail drive.
