We'll even visit a semi-active volcano with reefs that evfervess with volcanic bubbles before finishing with the whale sharks of Saleh Bay!

Turneffe makes for an ideal location to host our Belize Freediving Workshop and Snorkeling tour. Aside from the beautiful reefs and clear waters, there are a number of protected areas to explore with varying depth levels. This makes it the perfect training area to develop our freediving skills. Throughout the week, there will be workshops and in-water practical sessions aiming to give you time to improve your skills. These skill come in handy when exploring shallow coral reefs. We'll be based at Turneffe Island Resort for the duration of the tour. We'll be accompanied by a freediving expert (Emma Farrell) and an assistant, who both bring along a wealth of experience. All this is of course combined with plenty of time for snorkeling over the reefs.

The Silver Bank Marine Sanctuary, just off the north coast of the Dominican Republic, provides a safe wintering haven for the entire North Atlantic Humpback Whale population who gather here from January through April. Three to five thousand humpbacks arrive here at the Silver Bank to court, mate, calve, and rear their young. Humpback whales find the area ideal for mating and giving birth as the banks offer safety and protection to females and their calves until the young are strong enough to make the trip back north. This sanctuary, also known as the "Sanctuary for the Marine Mammals of the Dominican Republic" is one of three places in the world where humans can swim and snorkel among the whales.

This unique snorkel liveaboard starts in Labuan Bajo, Western Flores, and spends the following eleven nights exploring Komodo National Park and beyond. We have selected a fantastic time to be in the Komodo area as many of the other liveaboards have moved up to Raja Ampat, leaving the park for us to enjoy in peace. Naga Biru will be our floating home for the duration of this tour, and with it, we'll enjoy all the luxuries and amenities of a comfortable resort while also indulging in the exhilarating experiences of exploring seldom-visited reefs and islands.

From the northeast coast of Sumbawa, we have access to four different regions-West Komodo, Sangeang Volcano, Gili Banta Island, and Sumbawa-for some truly amazing and unique snorkeling. Because there is so little human traffic here, we'll find pristine hard and soft corals in abundance. The area is busy with fish life, lots of turtles, larger rays, and reef sharks cruising around. Also around Sangeang Volcano, which is still semi-active, we'll swim over bubbling black sands and hyper-rich reefs. They're unlike any of the others reefs in the region because of its nutrient-dense volcanic substrate. Kalimaya has its own fantastic house reef where you are welcome to snorkel at your leisure.

Journey to this remote corner of Indonesia and snorkel some of the most pristine reefs found anywhere in the world with very good chances of encountering blue whales, pods of dolphins, and mola molas. We have been visiting Alor for many years and it continues to be one of our most exciting and interesting locations. Situated in the heart of the "Coral Triangle" you can expect many hours of snorkeling over incredible hard and soft coral reefs that are just exploding with life big and small. We've specifically timed this tour for July, which is one of the best months to spot blue whales as they migrate through Alor on their way north into the Banda Sea from Western Australia. This tour will also coincide with the new moon which brings upwellings of cold water along with mola mola which gives us the unique opportunity to swim with them as they paddle along on the surface.

Our first stop will be north of Sulawesi where we'll be based in the award-winning Siladen Resort. We'll explore the best snorkeling sites in one of Indonesia's oldest marine protected areas, Bunaken National Park. From the comfort of a lovely island resort, we'll be able to explore all the area's reefs with ease. Bunaken is famous for stunning shallow corals, a bounty of reef fish, but it's most known for its turtle population. We will make our second stop at the newly renovated Coral Eye Resort on Bangka Island. Here in Bangka, we'll blown away by the sheer beauty and density of the marine life and reefscapes. If we're lucky, we may see the resident dugong, known to cruise the shallow waters surrounding the resort. Although they're rarely seen in most other parts of the Indo-Pacific, they're regularly spotted around this magical little island. Bunaken National Park and Bangka Island are geographically close, the reefs, on the other hand, couldn't look more different. We'll then snorkel Raja Ampat, from the wonderful Papua Explorers Resort, located in the heart of this famous archipelago. It's the perfect place from which to snorkel Raja Ampat. Just a few minutes from the resort, there is a huge variety of snorkeling sites that play host to some of the most diverse marine habitats found anywhere on the planet. Expect truly pristine coral gardens packed with hard and soft corals that carpet the island slopes all the way up to the surface. Masses of fish life explode from the reefs, with good chances of swimming next to bigger fish such as manta rays, reef sharks, and schools of barracuda and jacks.

As I was searching for an elusive cuttlefish, I couldn't help but notice the abundance of striped catfish feeding in the sandy bottom. Schools of these guys were everywhere, in dense groups leapfrogging one another to get to the fresh ungrazed sand in front of the heard. Wherever I found the catfish, I also found razorfish hovering above the school as the disturbed substrate released not only large amounts of bubbles but also food particles that the razorfish seemed to love, but were not able to access without the catfish's assistance. Occasionally, the grazing school would come into the 'gardens' of the white damsel fish who are very protective of their carefully cultivated algae patches, and were not afraid to challenge any intruder with maximum force, including me!
