Here in San Diego, we're lucky to enjoy year-round sailing, with our crew hitting the water 7 days a week, all 12 months of the year. Southern California's weather during January, February, and March is hard to beat-lately, we've been enjoying sunny days with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. One of the most common questions we hear this time of year is: "Will I get cold on the water?" The truth is, San Diego's winter weather isn't all that different from fall or spring. Captain Dave's Tip: Bring an extra layer-like a windbreaker or jacket-to stay comfortable during your sail. And don't worry, we've got you covered with cozy blankets, especially when the sun begins to set on our Sunset Sails. Another reason to sail this season? It's prime wildlife-spotting time! Whale-watching season is happening NOW through mid-April. Join one of our Whale-Watching Sails to catch gray whales in their natural habitat as they migrate south to Baja, California, right along our coastal waters. We can't wait to welcome you aboard for a relaxing and memorable winter sailing experience! ??
Join Crew Chris as he shares some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into each boat before our sailing charters begin for the day. Our crew puts in hours of hard work long before passengers even come aboard. Hope you enjoy a little BTS!

We are very excited to reveal our big project. San Diego's first fully electric charter sailboat! ??? In this most recent refit of our Catalina 400, Bree Zen, we replaced the old Westerbeke diesel engine with a state-of-the-art electric motor. By replacing a diesel engine with an electric one, motoring in and out of the harbor is now a completely smooth and silent process. With no exhaust or diesel fumes, and no pollutants going into the water. ? To support our new electric motor, we've integrated four 48-volt lithium batteries from Dakota Lithium. Thanks to Dakota Lithium and Electric Yachts - they've helped us take our sailing experiences to a whole new level! ???? Our transition from diesel to electric power is part of our ongoing efforts to explore new innovations and products, and offer even more eco-friendly sailing experiences. Now you can experience sailing on board Bree Zen, San Diego's first fully electric charter sailboat yourself! Join us. ?
Meet Kate, one of our crew members here at Sail San Diego! Kate is a mom of three, 2 of which were twins born on Halloween! ? ? She's an incredible addition to our crew and loves any chance she's able to hop on board a sail. ?? When asked what her favorite thing about sailing is? Her response: Feeling the warmth of the sun ? and just being able to disconnect for 3 hours while out on the water. ??
