So why this boat was owned by the Royal family and how Ian gets to go sailing on it is a bit of a story, and well to be honesty that's what the film is all about. but in brief, we know Steve. And Steve, along with a good friend of his Steve, used to serve on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, back when it was in service as the Royal yacht. Although they have now long since left the service they both work alongside the Britannia trust as volunteers to help keep these boats sailing, and well, it was on one of these trips that I got an invite to come and help. There a couple on the Medway that do this, and we thought, that looks like fun, so we bought an old wakeboard off of eBay and had a go. So they aren’t really aliens, it’s the red sand forts that sit in the middle of the Thames estuary. They were however just one of the things that we saw on the first part of our journey down to the Solent. We had this adventure in the summer but its taken us ages to pull all the film clips together and bring them together in a series of short films. Not helped by the fact that the cameras etc kept breaking but we will tell you more about that as the series evolves. Ok so our opinion is slightly biased as we have one and love it (and for a limited period its up for sale) but we have owned and sailed quite a number of different boats now so have some idea of what makes a good boat. Although these arnt perfect they do make exceptionally comfortable coastal cruisers and when compared to similar boats from other manufacturers they do represent excellent value for money.
