In this episode we get a ton of boat jobs done. Aaron works on electrical and AIS and I work on getting the old decals with the former boat name off and fill the water tanks. Adler plays fishing with our homemade alphabet learning game and Gabby dies her hair purple. Hope you like this episode! Let us know if you have any questions. The crew of Someday
In this episode, we install a washing machine on the boat. We build a framework, install it and begin using it. We chose the Giantex washing machine as it was available via Amazon and it fit our size / space requirements. It doesn't dry, but it washes, spins, soaks and then we hang up the laundry outside on the life lines to dry it. We have been using it now for a few months and have found it to be fairly water intensive. I estimate that it uses about 10 gallons of water per load. So I started using sea water for washing and then fresh for the rinse. Power wise it isn't too bad though. I think we will eventually explore a combo washer dryer unit in the hopes that it will use less water. Hope you enjoy this one!
In this episode we teach the dog to go potty aboard. We try several methods, and one method prevails. I am so thankful that he was able to learn how to go aboard and take care of his basic needs no matter how far from shore we are. He is after all, my fur baby! We hope you like the video, especially all you dog lovers! The crew of Someday, Chris, Aaron, Gabby, Adler, Tag and Gizmo
In this episode, we explore the beach after a storm and find all sorts of interesting things washed ashore. The next day, we head to the local farmers market to stock up on fresh veg, farm fresh eggs that have never been refrigerated, and other assorted goodies. Before the night is through, Adler loses his first tooth! If you are enjoying our videos, like the video and subscribe to our channel, then click the bell to get notified when we publish new content! In this episode, we remove our old house bank of batteries and install new Firefly Oasis batteries on our boat. We’ll share why we chose these batteries over others, how we configured them, what we have on board for solar and wind power. We will also talk about the nerve-wracking moments that had us pretty nervous and me (Chris) on the verge of tears! We haven't been sponsored by Firefly. http://fireflyenergy.com/ Let us know in the comments what questions you have or if you are using them and what you think of these batteries. We hope you enjoyed this video, If you haven't already, please like and subscribe to our channel! The crew of Someday Aaron, Chris, Gabby and Adler
In this episode, we settle into daily life aboard with a schedule of school, boat work and fishing. We celebrate Adler’s 6th birthday with two great adventures (we try to give experiences rather than gifts like toys). We went fossil hunting on the Peace river and we went on a fishing trip in the canal between Estero Island and the reserve (thanks to Grandma Kathy for this one!) Fossil Hunting We went fossil hunting with Fred Mazza at Paleo Discoveries. We paddled up the Peace river in canoes and spent hours digging in the river bed for fossils. Gabby found a megaladon tooth and we found many more fossils including shark teeth, sting ray teeth, turtle shell bones and more! We had a great time. https://fossilhuntingtours.com/ Fishing Trip We went on a fishing trip in the canal between Estero Island and the Estero Bay Preserve State Park. Ryan from Goodtime Charters was a great captain. We spent time fishing and were lucky enough to have several dolphins play in our wake! https://goodtimecharters.com/ Standing Rigging We had our rigging done by Anthony at Onboard Rigging. He was good to work with, friendly and worked with us on the price. Very good value for the quality of workmanship and the rigging itself. This was a done over the course of a couple of weeks. We didn't get a lot of usable footage of it (still new to this)! https://onboardrigging.com/
In this episode, we survey and buy a Leopard 42 in Florida. Then we head home to Washington state and begin the drive will all our stuff in a 4x8 trailer and drive across the country with our family, including our cat and our dog. We drive non-stop, taking turns driving and sleeping and arrive in Florida on day 4 after making a stop at Mt. Rushmore! Have you driven across country before? Did you get a little loopy too?
In our first episode, we head to Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands to survey a Lagoon 440 catamaran that we think might be the perfect boat for our family's adventures. We talk about the lessons we learned in surveying a boat and this trip wouldn't be complete without some snorkeling in these beautiful waters! Hope you enjoy!
Join our family on an epic adventure as we learn to live aboard, sail abroad and explore the world together. We plan to document our journey and travels and share it with those interested. For us, this is pretty epic, as we lived a traditional life before this. Making the decision to sell it all and take this leap was huge and we feel grateful to have the opportunity to do this and to share it with others.
