We continue to go over the used Rainman Watermaker. We pull the pump and motor out of the blue enclosure, check the impeller, spark plug and filter.

We pulled the unit out to our small pool outside to change the oil and test run the pump and motor, and figure out how the stop switch works... or doesn't work.

So we need to replace the high pressure hose and add in a flow meter to our Rainman Watermaker membranes.

We drill some big holes in the back of our boat to permanently install the Rainman Watermaker motor and pump. We test the water output in our canal (brackish water) and install the membranes in their new home. To finish off, we show how to Pickle the system.

We decided we need a backup water supply, even though we have a 200 gallon water tank on board. So we bought a used Rainmain Watermaker for emergency use on our Gulfstar 44 Motorsailer. We got the Petrol version... basically a small gas engine that runs the high pressure pump with the high capacity membranes... 37 gallon per hour.

We finished working on our Mast next to our house, we now have to pull it through the town to the marine to get it put back on the boat.

We start re-wiring and polishing our Mast. We add in a new VHF cable and wind meter. We replace our spreader and steaming lights. Then give the whole aluminum mast a light sanding and polishing to make it shiny! 1974 Gulfstar 44.

In this short series we pull the mast and set it on a home made dolly system to transport it to our house. We look to change out a vhf wire and add a wind meter as well as new lights. Then give the mast a good polish, then walk it through town to have it lifted and put back on.

We unpack all the items needed to set up our Portland Pudgy for Sailing and come up with a system to minimize the set up time. We also make some modifications to the dagger / lee boards, Cunningham, reefing system and traveler to make it easier when launching from our 1974 Gulfstar motorsailor. We go through setting up the rudder and tiller, dagger/lee boards, mast and boom, sail and control lines.... on and off the water (ok, it was a pool... but still water!) 0:00 Make a Sailing Dinghy 0:37 Really Good Manual 2:18 Rudder & Tiller Assemble 4:53 Dagger / Lee Boards 5:46 My Dagger board Mod 8:40 Rudder Storage 9:24 Boom, Mast, & Sail Setup 12:35 Boom line rigging 16:53 Outhaul line setup 17:16 Bowline knot 18:43 Cunningham line 20:18 Sail store system 21:06 Water Simulation 22:18 Pull down sail system 26:50 Roll the sail around the Mast 30:15 Slide into red cover 33:03 6 Minute Install Sail 39:50 Pull onto the Beach 41:20 Sail and Line Mods 52:11 Mod Testing 57:57 Reefing the Sail Mod

We get to push our Portland Pudgy down a hill to the water using the installed wheel. Then we show how the weaver davit system attaches to our Gulfstar 44 Motorsailor. A maximum of 3hp outboard is recommended... so of course we put on a 5hp... cause I use to own a MacGregor 26X and had a 90 hp on it (50 hp max was recommended). I have a speed problem... I admit it. We test out different ways to mount it, with and without the rudder installed. Then we bring the Admiral out for a 2 person test. 0:00 Launching 0:46 Boat Plug! 2:24 Dinghy bag 5:26 Weaver Davits 8:38 Removing Weaver Davits 10:05 Lowering the Outboard 12:24 Why a 5hp outboard 12:50 Starting the outboard 15:00 Charging wire 16:15 Fuel Tank Modification 21:23 Tiller extension 24:30 1st Speed Test 25:30 Mount motor on port side 27:08 2nd Speed Test 28:00 Install Rudder 30:00 Prop hits Rudder! 32:00 Correct tilt on Motor for Tiller 34:54 3rd Speed Test 37:08 2 People on board test 38:18 4th Speed Test
