Some people see a 27,000 lb project boat as half a century of neglect, but we see it as the ticket to our next sailing adventure! Welcome to our first official walkthrough of our new home and project sailboat: a classic 1976 Morgan 41 Out Island Center Cockpit Ketch. In this episode, we take you on a complete deck inspection—from the bow pulpit, windlass, and standing rigging down through the cockpit, custom carved teak hatches, and aft deck. Then, we dig into the nav station and unearth a massive goldmine of original 1970s documentation, vintage chart kits, historic receipts, and forgotten artifacts left behind by previous owners. We are launching a full multi-year refit to turn this 50-year-old Charley Morgan (1929 -2023) design into a full-time liveaboard and off-grid blue-water cruiser. Planning to retire on a boat? This video will help you to see what it's like inside a sailboat, how it works, and how we took first-time crew out for a demonstration of sailing. This episode we give you a boat tour and take aboard new crew for the first sail of the season. Start here if you're planning to retire from the daily 9 to 5 and buy a boat, specifically a Catalina model this is 1983 Catalina C-30 TR, or Tall Rig. The mast is taller which means more sail area to catch the wind. The cabin width, or beam is about 10ft-6in wide and very comfortable for two people. Catalina's were built to be an affordable choice for sailing couples. It has the most amenities for the price and the lifestyle, but did not reduce the performance of the sailboat. The American Dream isn't a destination—it's a verb. It's about freedom, community, and the moments we share. Come along with us for the ultimate 4th of July celebration! We start the night under a red moon at the docks, walk the small-town streets to a local park festival, visit American Legion Post 88, and head back to the bow of the boat for an incredible night-vision look at the fireworks over the lake. To wrap up the perfect Independence Day, we head to the afterparty to watch our friends' band "Gypsy Voodoo" rock the stage and celebrate a very special birthday. Are you living your dream? Let me know in the comments how you celebrated your 4th! THE BUG ZAPPER!
