Come and check this series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJX2CvbCChNvxDDd0XsyRo3k_38IuvcG0 In my video, I talk about our Atlantic crossing as a couple, a scenario familiar to many sailors. Together with another very experienced sailor, I sailed my COCON from the Canary Islands to Martinique in the Caribbean. People often say that this route is ‘really easy’. But is it really as easy as people say? Although this was already my third Atlantic crossing on this route – in addition to other blue water voyages – it proved once again that no two crossings are the same. That's why I've included separate sections in the video where I share my experiences and points that I consider particularly important. My aim is to give anyone planning a similar trip a realistic insight into what to expect, what to consider, what helps, and what my solutions and suggestions are. The weather during this crossing was very mixed, and we encountered relatively rough conditions at the beginning and especially in the last third. I am all the more pleased that we arrived without any damage to the COCON and without any other problems. A large part of this success is also due to the atmosphere on board: we were a very good team, very experienced, familiar, attentive and harmonious – something that is priceless on long ocean voyages. After 21 days on the Atlantic, we finally reached Martinique. And even though it was my third crossing, arriving is always a special moment, which we celebrate exuberantly with a bottle of champagne.

Come and check this series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJX2CvbCChNvxDDd0XsyRo3k_38IuvcG0 We are able to enjoy this last leg of our journey from Porto Santo and Madeira to the Canary Islands in almost perfect conditions. Light winds allow us to set the gennaker again and again, and we never have to take it down because of strong winds. Only at night is it stowed away for safety reasons. We arrive in La Graciosa at the beautiful anchorage “Playa Francesa,” as have several other sailors who arrived before us. We find a good spot and enjoy this wonderful island, which I can show you with impressive pictures from the air. But Madeira also has fascinating sides, especially for hikers, which I have tried to capture with drone images. Enjoy the video and “fair winds and following seas”!

It describes the journey from Portimão in the Algarve to Porto Santo, the small island off Madeira. Before we set sail, we have to prepare the yacht for the long distances ahead, but we take a day off to explore the Algarve's hinterland a little. Then we set sail for this 460-nautical-mile journey. I hope you enjoy the film. Please consider to take the time to leave a comment, give it a “thumbs up” if you liked the video, or even subscribe to the channel and stay tuned for upcoming episodes. This video shows the last stage of our sailing trip in the Mediterranean. We have left our destination of Sardinia and are now sailing via Mallorca and Ibiza back to mainland Spain. From Ibiza, I am sailing single-handed along the Spanish coast to Almerimar, where the “Cocon” will be taken out of the water. She will be prepared at the shipyard for the next voyage, which will once again take us across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. This video shows our trip to northeastern Sardinia and the Maddalena Archipelago, with a short detour to Corsica. The area is perfect for beginner sailors and charter crews. There are countless anchorages and opportunities to seek shelter away from the Strait of Bonifacio when strong winds prevail there. In my opinion, the area is truly fantastic and well worth spending some time there. Most of the time we sailed in convoy with two other boats, the “Henni” and the “Godelief.” This meant that we were able to film each other while sailing. Unfortunately, some of the footage is not very sharp, which is due to the reformatting of vertical videos into horizontal sections, but I hope that doesn't bother you too much. This video shows a lot of sailing scenes and is therefore purely a sailing video. It is intended to give an impression of this beautiful area. I also try to show some anchorages, both on the coast of northern Sardinia (the “Costa Smeralda”) and in the Maddalena Archipelago. At the end, we make a short detour to Corsica. I hope you enjoy the video and look forward to your comments and feedback.
In this second part, I will report on our journey from Formentera to Sardinia. We sailed in the spring when the winds were more reliable, which allowed us to sail long distances with steady winds. Of course, in addition to sensible weather navigation, we also needed a bit of luck. I hope you enjoy the video, and as always, I look forward to your suggestions and comments. Fair winds!
This video is about a sailing trip from Panama to Jamaica. The question, if this trip is possible at all against the prevailing winds and the complex current conditions, and how difficult it is, has been on my mind for a long time. I had the opportunity to experience this on the catamaran "Flip Flop" of my friends Peter and Petra. In addition to Panama and the actual sailing trip, I try to give you some impressions of Jamaica outside the tourist areas. I hope you enjoy this video and, as always, I am open to your suggestions and comments.
In this video I show our voyage from Antigua, via Barbuda to St. Martin, where we prepare for the next single handed passage to Curaçao. The plan is to spend the hurricane season there. But in the last minute, some important changes happen... I hope you enjoy the video, and I would be happy to receive your comments and/or suggestions.
In this video I show our sailing trip from the "Les Saintes" archipelago off the coast of Gouadeloupe northwards. We stay at Freeman's Bay in Antigua, which is right at the entrance to the famous "Nelson's Dockyard", and continue to Jolly Harbour on Antigua. An interesting encounter was with a group of dolphins in the anchorage of Deshaies in Guadeloupe, with whom it was possible to swim and dive. I hope you enjoy the video and, as always, I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
This video shows our journey from the Tobago Keys north to Guadeloupe. We make a short stopover in Martinique to experience Carnival on this French island before sailing on to Guadeloupe and the neighboring island of Le Gosier. We hope you enjoy the video and look forward to your comments and suggestions.
In this video I give some impressions of the Grenadines, especially Union Island and the Tobago Keys. I hope you enjoy the video and, as always, I look forward to your comments and feedback.
In this first video of our trip in the Caribbean we describe our journey from Martinique via Bequia to Mustique. One morning we had a negative surprise in Mustique, bu you will see... We hope you like the video and we would be happy about a subscription, as well as comments and suggestions.
In this video I show the steps and useful tools I used to caulk the teak in the cockpit.
This second part is about the crossing from the Cape Verde Islands to Martinique. I'll start by explaining what you need to be aware of when leaving the Cape Verde Islands and then go on to explain why I think it's good to arrive in Martinique after crossing the Atlantic. I hope you enjoy the video and, as always, I look forward to your comments.
Our Atlantic crossing was supposed to be straight to Martinique, but as we had a lot of calm early on, we decided to stop at the Cape Verde Islands to refuel. We didn't regret it, because when do you get the chance to visit these remote islands? We used the time to visit Santo Antão - the island opposite Mindelo. It is going to be a great and interesting trip. I hope you enjoy the video and, as always, I look forward to your likes, subscriptions and comments. So have fun and stay tuned.
This video describes the last leg from Madeira to the Canary Islands, before we start our Atlantic crossing. We pass by the beautiful Island of La Graciosa, then Lanzarote, a short stop-over in Fuerteventura before we enter the harbor of Las Palmas, the most popular starting point for an Atlantic crossing. I hope you enjoy the video and your comments - as well as a thumbs up and a subscription - are very welcome. I read all comments, and reply to all of them. Thank you for watching, fair winds to all of you, and stay tuned.
This is the first longer leg of 450nm from Portugal to Porto Santo and Madeira. The trip is really calm and relaxing, and we reach Porto Santo after 3,5 days without any issues. We use the time to visit Porto Santo and then continue our journey with a short leg to the main island of this archipelago, Madeira . I hope you enjoy the video and your comments - as well as a thumbs up and possible substription - are very welcome. I read all comments, and reply to all of them. Thank you for watching, fair winds to all of you, and stay tuned.
In this video I discuss two tricky situations: firstly, the passage through the Strait of Gibraltar, because the currents there can be very complicated, and secondly, how to avoid an encounter with the dreaded orcas. Our route takes us from La Linea (or Gibraltar) to Portimão. I hope you like this video! As always, I look forward to your comments.
We leave the Med in summer and explain why. I describe in this video the first part of our journey from the Mediterranean heading west to the Canary Islands. This video ends in Gibraltar and a next video shows the continuation of the journey. In addition, I provide some hints about my experiences sailing in the Mediterranean that mighht be useful to others planning a similar trip. I hope you like the film. I'm happy to receive comments, and of course you're welcome to subscribe to my channel.
