In February 1944 the United States launched Operation Hailstone - often referred to as Japan's Pearl Harbor - a surprise naval air attack that lasted 3 days. It decimated the Japanese fleet. More than 230 aircraft were destroyed and more than 50 ships sunk. It unintentionally created one of the best wreck diving destinations in the world. We dove here on the 74th anniversary of the attack. Many lives were lost a sobering week of scuba diving for sure! Thanks for watching.
Wakatobi National Park was established in 1996, this 3.4 - million acre park (13,759 sq km) area has protected reefs and limited fishing, backed by local communities who share in the dive tourism revenue. Combine that with the fact that Wakatobi is not easy to reach you have an intoxicating cocktail for divers: pristine, healthy and uncrowded reefs. The Galapagos Islands are a must see for any serious scuba diver. The amount and variety of marine life is daunting. We dove in June to see the Whale Sharks and whatever else was passing through. Warm water in the northern islands - Darwin and Wolf and much colder in the islands on and south of the equator. Three major ocean currents converge here which is why the marine life is so prolific. Thanks for watching my video .... peter
Manta Rays create an underwater dance as they feed on plankton attracted by lights. A most mesmerizing spectacle for sure. The Kona coast on the Big Island is famous for its resident population of Manta Rays. Another great dive.
The Avalon Dive Park located on Catalina Island. A short drive up from San Diego and then an hour and half boat ride from Dana Point. Easy shore diving into a protected park. Always a fun dive due to the healthy population of marine life. The park has a kelp forest and contains several artificial wrecks that also attracts marine life. Spring and summer bring Black Sea Bass into the park. These fish are massive weighting several hundred pounds and are usually easily appreciable if done in a non threatening manner. Thanks for watching!

Another great trip with Waterhorse Charters. Special thanks to Ryan Mable for the invite on this private charter to explore this seldom visited shipwreck here in San Diego. The wreck sits in 125 feet of water along the Mexican / U.S. border. She was a Wickes-Class destroyer in the US Navy during World War II. Received six battle stars for service sinking 4 submarines and bringing down 2 planes. She was sunk as target practice on November 8, 1945,

Farnsworth Bank is located two miles off the backside of Catalina Island in Southern California. This seamount tops off at 60 feet and drops hundreds of feet on either side. An abundance of California hydrocoral thriving on Farnsworth's deeper walls makes this dive site unique. Thanks for watching, comments always welcome.
