100 meters to the finish, we're holding third place - then suddenly, the sound of the rudder chain snapping, and the yacht luffs sharply into the wind. The skipper stayed calm and acted fast, inserting the emergency tiller into the rudder stock to regain direct control of the rudder blade, bypassing the wheel. Thanks to the quick response, the yacht lost only a few positions and still crossed the finish line successfully. Back in the marina, technicians from the charter company were called in. They repaired the system and installed a new steering chain. A valuable lesson: never ignore play or looseness in the wheel - it's often the first sign of trouble. #PAPARegatta #PAPARegatta2012 #TheArtOfSailing #ArtOfSailing #RudderFailure #CroatiaYachting #CroatiaSailing
Dangerous Yacht Collision with the Rocks at PAPA Regatta 2021 #paparegatta #artofsailing #rockscrash
During the race, the course included a natural obstacle - a small, rocky island. The depths were safe, and the skipper decided to take a tight line around it. But just behind the island, the wind shifted unexpectedly, and a sudden gust drove the yacht's bow straight toward the rocks. With minimal room to maneuver, the skipper reacted quickly and managed to regain control. However, in the process of steering clear, the keel scraped against the rocks. The result: a few scratches and the loss of half the team's security deposit. A hard lesson learned - always keep a safe distance from the rocks! #PAPARegatta #PAPARegatta2021 #TheArtOfSailing #ArtOfSailing #DangerousRocks #RocksCrash #CroatiaSailing #CroatiaYachting #SailingRace #SailingFails

It's a mix of emotions - most of the fleet is behind you, but three yachts are still ahead, and with the finish line fast approaching, there's no time left to catch them. Which means no podium finish this time. It was a 15-mile offshore race from Rogoznica's Marina Frapa to Maslenica, on the island of ?olta, Croatia. As the race unfolded, the wind intensified to over 24 knots, with gusts hitting 32. After two teams lost their gennakers, the race committee issued a safety ban on their further use. #PAPARegatta #PAPARegatta2021 #SailingRace #TheArtOfSailing
