The Bahamas always seem endless… but are they? 🌴⛵ In this episode, our family of seven living aboard full-time continues island-hopping down the Bahamian chain, making the most of every stop as we work our way toward the Windward Passage and eventually back to Panama. We leave the crystal-clear anchorage of Rudder Cay, point the bows south, and make a festive holiday stop in Georgetown, Elizabeth Harbor — a familiar place filled with good memories, friendly faces, and that unmistakable cruising community vibe. But this season is different. The weather windows are calling, the calendar is moving, and before we know it, we’re raising anchor once again. As quickly as we arrived, we’re gone — chasing the next island, the next anchorage, and the next adventure. That leaves us wondering: How many islands are left in the Bahamas? How many more can we explore before it’s time to cross the Windward Passage? Which ones will we actually get to see, and which will have to wait for another season? This is the reality of life aboard — balancing curiosity with timing, savoring each stop while knowing you can’t see it all. Along the way, we’re continuing to learn our new catamaran, dial in passages, and keep things fun, safe, and memorable for our kids as we sail farther south. If you love family sailing, real cruising life, island hopping, and big-picture adventure, come along as we chase horizons and make the most of every mile. 👉 Subscribe to follow our journey south 👍 Like & comment — how many Bahamian islands do you think we’ll reach before we leave?

As we continue island-hopping through the breathtaking Bahamian Islands, we finally reach one of those rare moments where the boat is anchored, the water is clear, and the noise of life fades away. In this episode, our family of seven takes time to reflect on why we chose this life—why we sold the normal, moved aboard a sailboat, and set our course for the Windward Passage and beyond. Between turquoise waters, shared laughs, and quiet conversations, we’re reminded that this journey isn’t just about destinations—it’s about the memories we’re making together that will last a lifetime. In this episode, we drop anchor at Shroud Cay, home to the mysterious Norman’s Cay plane wreck—often linked to cartel legends and smuggling history. The Bahamas have always felt like paradise to us — endless turquoise water, quiet anchorages, and unforgettable moments as a family. But as we continue island hopping through the Bahamian chain, a big question keeps coming up: With rising cruising and permit fees… is the Bahamas still worth it? In this episode, our family of seven living full-time aboard our sailboat sails from Chub Cay to Shroud Cay, one of our absolute favorite stops in the Exumas. Along the way, we talk honestly about the increased costs of visiting the Bahamas, what cruisers are paying now, and whether the experience still justifies the price for families, budget cruisers, and long-term liveaboards. Once anchored in Shroud Cay, we soak in everything that makes this place so special — drifting through the famous lazy mangrove river, hiking to breathtaking overlooks, and capturing some of the most epic drone footage we’ve ever filmed. The contrast between untouched natural beauty and the realities of cruising costs makes this stop especially thought-provoking. As we spend our last day in Shroud Cay, we begin preparing the boat, the kids, and ourselves for the next leg of our journey as we continue working our way back toward the Windward Passage. Weather planning, route decisions, and saying goodbye to another unforgettable anchorage are all part of life at sea. This episode is a mix of raw cruising reality and jaw-dropping scenery — the kind that reminds us why we keep choosing this life, even when the costs rise. If you enjoy family sailing, real cruising conversations, drone footage, and island-hopping adventures, make sure to like, subscribe, and sail along with us to the next island.
