One of my favorite things about visiting North Minerva Reef is seeing the large schools of steep head parrotfish. These brilliantly colored fish are beautiful. They are a bit shy but we got some decent video anyway.
I was diving in the territory of these 2 white tips. We come back every year and they are always around. They are very interested in what we are doing. These guys made me jump 3 times on this dive. I would turn my head to find a shark staring at me 3 feet away! Creepy but amazing. They are just curious, just like us.
This is a Stubby an oceanic manta ray that we visited several years in a row at Rabi, Fiji.
Ever wondered what an oceanic manta belly looks like? Kinda like a dog belly with big black freckles. Here one swims above me and I get a good look! Rabi Island, Fiji
Pogeyan under full sail. We have lived aboard and sailed her since 2016. We spend 6 months (June-Nov) in the south pacific islands and then retreat to New Zealand during cyclone season (Dec -May)
A baby humpback is tucked up next to mom as they swim past. Unbeknownst to me, there was also an escort male. He emerged from the murk and swam between me and the mom with her baby! He actually scared the crap out of me. The water was so murky I couldn't see him coming.
I swam with 2 humpback whales and they swam really close to look me over. What an amazing day. They moved slow and gently around me. Perfect day on Pogeyan.
Four humpback whales swimming along the reef.
More of the lovely Rabi reefs.
A pod of dolphins joined us while sailing in Tonga, 2023.
Our sail boat coming to pick me up after a swim with the whales!
