We are Easy Day Adventures, a family of four taking one adventure at a time. In this video series we are pointing North to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to go swimming up in the Arctic Ocean. Why? Because its there. Plus, it will make a great adventure for our growing boys who are learning how to dream BIG. Why not come along for the ride? Sometimes we live on our sailboat, other time we explore Terra Firma with our OVRLND rig. Either way, its always an adventure! In this video we cross the border from British Columbia to Alaska. The scale of the mountains begins to grow and we take the opportunity to spend two days in Skagway, Alaska before taking the ferry to Juneau. In Skagway we explore the town, take care of errands, and visit the Dyea Flats. The flats were spectacular because it gave us an open view of the water and surrounding mountains. We only wish we had spent more time boondocking. Our ferry ride to Juneau held a bit of a surprise. About 2 hours into the voyage, we received notification of a huge earthquake near the Kamchatca peninsula in Russia. There was even a Tsunami watch issued for our area. With 5 hours left in our transit it did cause a bit of concern but shortly after the watch was lifted for our area. We arrived in Juneau around 10:30pm that evening. In Juneau we settled in at the Mendenhall Campground for five days. This was our basecamp to explore the Mendenhall Glacier, Nugget Falls, and Eagle Beach. We hope you enjoy.

Sometimes we live on our sailboat, other time we explore Terra Firma with our OVRLND rig. Either way, its always an adventure! In this video we get some fresh tires in Grand Prairie, Alberta before heading up the Alaska Highway into the Northern Canadian Rockies. Along the way we find an abandoned campground where we setup for the night. We didn’t spend too long because the bugs drove us further North to Muncho Lake. We really enjoyed the campground at Muncho Lake. The water wasn’t too cold for a refreshing cold bath and there are so many amazing trails nearby. We chose to jump on the Stone Sheep’s Trail that heads up into the mountains near the Sentinel Range. This was a great hike to burn off some of the boy’s energy and after we relaxed just a bit further North in the Laird River Hot Springs. It was only $10 CAD for the whole family to spend the afternoon at the hot springs. If you find yourself passing through the Northern Canadian Rockies, this is a must do! We were able to pack so much into that one day that we decided to push a little further up the ALCAN before dinner. We discovered some tucked away camping along the Laird River just West of Watson Lake. After some great rest listening to the water flow past all night, we pointed West to the Alaska border with British Columbia. Thanks for watching!

In this video we depart Colorado on our 4,000 mile journey to the Arctic Ocean. We travel 10 hours North into Wyoming and Montana. Our first stop is at a campground called the Beartooth Lake Campground. We then went searching for a more remote campsite suitable for our OVRLND camper. We found the perfect spot at Lulu Pass, just North of Cooke City, Montana. We had planned to camp just outside of Red Lodge, Montana but the bugs were too intense. The boys had an allergic reaction to mosquito bites on their ears so we went searching for a hotel that night to let the Benadryl kick in. Since we are a retired military family, we can stay at military base hotels for very reasonable rates. In this case, we opted for Malmstrom Air Force Base because it was on our way to the Canadian border. We hope you enjoy. 00:00 – Intro 00:32 – Starting Out 01:16 – Chief Joseph Scenic Byway 01:45 – Beartooth Lake Campground 02:04 – Cinnamon Bears 03:04 – Lulu Pass 05:03 – Mosquito Bites 05:32 – Sunset from Lulu Pass 07:00 – Beartooth Highway 09:18 – Malmstrom AFB Detour

In this episode we work our way to the Northern end of the Sea of Cortez. We stop at a nice anchorage called Puerto Refugio only to find out the bugs would drive us crazy. An early departure from this anchorage then took us to Puerto Peñasco where we prepared for our haul out. Once prepped, we hauled, then drilled a hole in our rudder to check for water, and finally had the boat sandblasted at the Cabrales boatyard. We then drove to the border crossing and on to our home in Colorado USA. 00:00 – Intro 02:03 – Puerto Refugio 03:33 – We got to go! 06:12 – Pulling into Puerto Peñasco 07:32 – Around town 09:46 – Hauling 11:26 – Drilling a hole in the rudder 12:38 – Sandblasting 15:01 – Heading home

In this video, I rebuild our NAVTEC hydraulic backstay tensioner while at anchor in La Paz, Mexico. Just want clarification contributed in the comments below: "When reinstalling the piston into the bore, you need to place a piece of shim stock inside the tube that covers the NPT oil port. This prevents the lip of the piston seal from being nipped off as it passes the port." For ordering the correct rebuild kit for your unit, first reference the stampings on your unit then check for the correct seal kit at the following website: https://navtechydraulics.com/navtec-hydraulic-seal-kit-price-list/ Then reach out to a NAVTEC dealer who can send you the kit. https://navtechydraulics.com/dealer-list/ I recommend reaching out to Alan at Seatek Yachting in Long Beach, CA. He was extremely helpful. https://www.seatekyachting.com/ 00:00 – Intro 00:26 – Removal 01:25 – The Rebuild Kit 02:04 – Disassembly 05:56 – Reassembly
