It is so good to be back on the water. Another season is underway. A season that for now looks like it will be without the challenges and drama of the 2025 season. The water levels on the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan are up this Summer thanks to some historic snowfalls in early April and some major rainstorms in late April and early May. The water levels are about 9 inches to a foot higher than last Summer. There are also NO WEEDS in the Marina this Summer. Thanks for watching. Finally. BOOMERANG is back in the water. The sails are on. And we are leaving Green Bay on our way north up the Bay of Green Bay to Little Sturgeon Bay and Wave Pointe Marina. This Memorial Day Weekend journey north has been a family tradition for the last 17 years that was interrupted in 2025 when I made the trip solo due to concerns with the low water and weed infestation. The work of maintaining a boat doesn't end once it goes in the water. There are always maintenance, upkeep and repairs that need to be made. An overcast sky did not diminish a great day on the water. Winds started out of the ESE and took a swing to the South throughout the day. The wind speed increased throughout the day from 5 to 10 to 10 to 15 as predicted. We sailed south along the west coast of Southern Door County to Red River County Park and then back. As Summer progresses, we are still plagued by weeds. After struggling to get out on a beautiful day on the Bay, we experienced considerable difficulties returning to our slip through the weeds. It continues to be a challenging Summer trying to get out on the water. We are still dealing with some water level issues but that has been a significant issue. The major issue continues to be the weeds. I suspect that the lower water levels this year have been a major contributor to the excessive weed growth. It has been a struggle, but we have been managing to get out. We still continue to drag a massive amount of weeds out on our keel, sail drive and rudder.
