NYYC American Magic’s America’s Cup campaign came to a close, showcasing their relentless determination and resilience. After years of tireless preparation and countless hours on the water, the team faced every challenge with heart and soul. The team's will to win was evident from the initial race to the final moments as they battled fiercely, never backing down from the fight. Terry Hutchinson, President of Sailing Operations for American Magic, reflected on the team’s performance after the race, expressing both pride and disappointment: “We were always one of those teams that was going to get better with more and more racing. We faced some setbacks, like Goody going down, but I’m so hugely impressed with Lucas and how well he stepped into it. I’m also so proud of our team for how everybody evolved. It was so cool just to watch Tommy and Lucas’s relationship evolve in a very short period of time to a point where they were going toe-to-toe with the past winners of the Prada Cup and the last challenger in the America’s Cup. We were there, knocking on the door, basically every single race. So the disappointment is that you can see all the promise and where we were heading.”

NYYC American Magic pulled off a stunning double victory against their Italian rivals, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, to bring the scoreline in the first-to-five-point Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Final to 4-3. Both of the day’s matchups were sailed under cloudy skies but on flat seas, with the wind for the first race at the very lower end of the America’s Cup-prescribed wind limit of six and a half knots. With the scene set for more of the same nip-and-tuck racing over the final three legs, disaster struck the Italians with a major failure in their mainsail system, crashing them off their foils and out of the race. This left the US crew to race unopposed around the rest of the course to take the team’s second victory of the day. With the series hanging by a thread, American Magic’s back-to-back wins have set up what could be an explosive final showdown. The pressure is mounting on both teams and with no room for error, the next race promises to push them to their absolute limits.

NYYC American Magic's second match of the Louis Vuitton Cup saw the US team take on the Swiss squad, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, in the first race on the schedule for the second day of the first round-robin stage of the Challenger Selection Series. Analyzing the day's racing, Paul Goodison said, "It's great to get the first win on the board for American Magic here in the Louis Vuitton series. It's quite a stressful day, to be honest, with very marginal sailing on the wind limits; we'd execute a great start and position ourselves well. We made it tough for Alinghi to drop off the foils in the pre-start, and then we were able to sail away.
