We asked Kevin, owner of an Ovni 370, about his impressions on sailing offshore the 1200 miles from Florida to Maryland. At a 5 to 10 degree heel, the boat just sits in the chine and flies! The wide, inverted bow and additional buoyancy also means that the boat floats on top of the waves instead of plowing through them.
Kevin, owner of an Ovni 370 aluminum sailboat, describes his experience with the lifting centerboard while sailing in the Intracoastal.
There is no question about it, the Alubat Ovni range are works of art! This particular owner of the Ovni 430 'Camino' commissioned Mike Peter Henry, an artist who's unique style resists convention. Wow. Mike Peter Henry: https://mikepeterhenry.com/
After initial welding on the hull is completed, it is flipped over and work on installing the ballast can begin. We can't wait to visit the first Ovni 490 pilot house aluminum sailboat in the coming weeks and see the progress for ourselves.
The Technical Room Aboard the Alubat Ovni: A Closer Look #shorts #aluminumboat #sailingyacht #yachts
The technical room aboard the Alubat Ovni is located starboard aft and it not only gives you access to systems such as engine, electrical and steering systems, but it can also be an additional crew cabin and/or workshop. Access to the cabin is either through a door located behind the aft washroom or from an overhead hatch located in the cockpit. This makes moving dirty or bulky items in and out of the boat that much more convenient.
The raised seating area aboard the Ovni range of aluminum sailboats take advantage of the panoramic windows for improved livability with better lines of sight, ventilation and light. The raised deck salon also allows for more storage underneath the settee for those looking to liveaboard and sail extensively.
We're excited about the Ovni 430 aluminum sailboat - the newest member of the family in Alubat's Ovni range. Be sure to watch a complete tour with Cecilia and Denis as they walk you through the interior and exterior of the yacht. https://youtu.be/iaCBYZ0gE7c?si=K9fOmfKqocUM7i2G
The Alubat boatyard is truly exceptional in the way they build 100% aluminum boats. The hull and deck are fully complete and welded together before a single component, system, wire or piece of furniture is installed.
From centerboard, an inverted bow and raised salon, the differences between the OVNI 370 and the 395 are dramatic. But what hasn't changed is the quality and finish by the Alubat boatyard that has been building 100% aluminum sailboats for the past 50 years!
The benefits of centerboard boats are obvious - ability to beach, navigate shallow waters and traverse canals. What is not always obvious is the added advantage of safety in heavy weather. Luc, CEO of Alubat, explains this benefit of a centerboard sailboat.
Alubat build's complete aluminum boats - that means the hull, deck and coachroof are all aluminum. This creates a stronger, and in our opinion, better boat. Luc, CEO at Alubat, explains the difference.
Bringing the world of Alubat to America. Alubat’s strength is building exceptional aluminum yachts for offshore sailing. Their reputation for quality fit and finish, as well as their experience sailing and living aboard got us excited about this project. With more than two decades building and selling long-distance cruising yachts, a partnership with Alubat was a natural fit. By representing Alubat we hope to expand their presence in not only the North American market, but all around the world. #alubat #aluminumboats #exploration #bluewatersailing #sailing #aluminumsailboat
