Our solar setup have always been different then the typical cruising sailboat. Most cruisers have fixed panels rigidly attached to an arch or bimini structure. Although this provides a secure support, it limits the amount of solar that can be harvested from the sun. With our setup we can tilt the panels to optimize our solar input. It has served us well over the past 8 years, but now it's time to make some improvements to the whole setup. The wind's not blowing, but we're still going! In this video, We’re breaking down how far our1971 Pearson 35 can go on an electric motor alone. After months in the boatyard, we made some serious upgrades to improve the boat's efficiency, including: -Swapping the old 2-blade sailing prop for a new 3-blade feathering prop. -Sealing up the centerboard cavity on the bottom of the keel. -Fairing the bottom of the hull for a smooth finish. With these changes, we've seen a huge improvement in speed and range under power. We'll test it all out and see just how many nautical miles we can get!
