After nearly loosing and miraculously retrieving drone in Borneo we take off to long journey to our last stop in Indonesia - Nongsa Point Marina. All starts well and we even get some good wind to sail… until I find out that video sound was corrupted and I have to redo video and make a small change to our course to re-upload the video. That takes longer than expected. Then we loose our alternator and that stops charging our boat batteries and start battery. Then we reconnect investor to do most of charging… Until we loose invertor too! And it’s so hot and no wind at all. We motor for days sometimes running generator to charge our batteries and some of our devices. Then even navigation devices start giving up on us for no good reason… And that has to happen when we navigating the boat (while showing) in the busiest waters in the world! To top that we have to show the boat, and oh - did I mention that we were fasting? Ken had no food for 3 days! If you don’t believe it - you have to watch it!

What an adventure! This is (hopefully) our longest sail ever! 21 days without seing the shore and many nautical miles away from it.
Distance covered: 3,520 Nautical Miles or 4,050 miles or 6,519 kilometers with some squalls and some wave height of 3+ meters… Sail changes countless times some not scary and some a bit frightening squalls with max wind strength of 36 knots or so. Only few boats encountered during all this time.
We stacked a lot of food and shared what we provisioned but we also caught a Mahi Mahi, that was so good!
Some a bit scary and lots of rewarding and pure magic like night shifts and the stars at night. It's incredible out here without any interference of other lights. We were lucky to capture some of it on video.
What seemed so crazy and incredible in the beginning that last hour was indescribable joy and gratitude for this experience.

After a big celebration last night, we are off to Sicily - 200 nm which wasn’t an easy one.
Nevertheless, we arrived at Naxos where above - on the mountain you can see an impressive-looking Taormina town.
After exploring the city we proceeded via the Strait of Messina and did we get the wrong weather! :)
But that doesn’t stop us as we still make it to the volcanic island of Stromboli, where sadly - we do not get the best time, quite opposite - we get a big fine for… hanging out with local boats? Oh Well…
Our next destination - Cefalu which is claimed of the nicest cities in Sicily. We also intended to visit Palermo, but the feeling of being unwelcome and an upcoming storm with no good protection there forced us to move again…

Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures : Episode #217

Hello Friends,

On this episode I awake in the beautiful Makua anchorage and enjoy getting to see the local spinner dolphins do their tricks. Once the coffee kicked in I swam the 600 yards to shore and went in search of shoreside adventures!

After locating the hidden trailhead, I made my way up the short but steep trail to the Upper Kaneana Caves (Upper Makua Caves) and took in the breath taking view! Once back down to the road I took my chances and explored the Lower Kaneana Cave and hoped not to get eaten by the shapeshifter Nanaue, son of Kamohoali'i, who is said to turn himself into a human to lure his dinner into the cave where he changes back into a shark to devour his victims!!!! (barely made it out alive)

What an amazing anchorage this is!!!!

Episode #277 : Season 9 : The South Pacific

On this episode I explore the incredible Coral Gardens near the island of Taha'a. This was easily one of the most fun things I have done in my life. Coral Gardens is a hoa (water that flows between small islands aka Motus) with a fast running current that allows you to drift snorkel through the shallow pass weaving your way in and out of coral! SOOO MUCH FUN!!!! and really beautiful!

Season 4 | Episode 61 | Sailing to Cat Harbor

Hello Friends!
On This episode we bid farewell to Little Harbor and all its magic and enjoy a slow sail to Catalina Harbor.

Catalina Harbor, or Cat Harbor as its called by the locals, is part of the Isthmus and Two Harbors. On the side of the island facing the mainland is Isthmus Cove and on the southwestern side or backside of the island lays Cat Harbor. Only a mile of soil separates the two. Cat Harbor is the only true natural "Hurricane Hole" in Southern California and has been used for centuries by ships riding out sou'easters or as we know them today "The Santa Anas".

Coming in we experienced quite a venturi effect as the winds increased dramatically just inside the entrance to Cat Harbor forcing us to head back out and drop our mainsail.

We pick up a mooring ball for our stay and went ashore and had dinner before turning in for a quiet night on a mooring.

This must be a record breaking charter week and a charter boat companies worst nightmare! It could qualify for being the worlds most expensive week for both the leaser and the charter boat company.
A company rents 80 bare boat charter and damage and destroy several of them. I can't tell how sorry I feel for the charter company after having this situation. It have been two tough years for anyone in tourism and especially for charter fleets around the world, and Martinique is no exception. So finally coming back in business again after lockdowns and tough times having several boats out of business must be a challenge. It's not like you can just replace a boat over night on a Caribbean island.
Whats the difference between a rally and a regatta or a race? A race or regatta is in most insurance companies not cowered. This is why it`s often called a rally instead. Re naming an event does not make it less risky. Hence the fact I never participate in rallies or regattas with my boat. BE FREE is my home and I can't afford to loos her.

I could made videos of really weird things and mistakes I see around me every day. But I dont belive others mistakes is interesting unless it's some take away from it. In this case I belive there is a few things to learn from it, and Im trying to share this with you.

Im also sharing some daily life things and giving you a short update on my situation here.

There are two sailboats boats that people buy A LOT of. They’re for more than just lake sailing though. Being near 40 feet they’re a little much for mom and pop marinas and yacht clubs. They’re weekenders. Coastal cruisers. And if you want them to be, they’re Bahamas and Caribbean island hoppers. And while they came from factory, designed by the same garcon even, one of them’s two feet bigger. And two feet worse.
