Episode 379 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we haul up anchor and make our way under the famous Story Bridge to anchor in Brisbane's CBD. It's so surreal to see Triteia anchored with skyscrapers towering above her! After spending so many nights anchored in remote anchorages it's fun to anchor in the middle of a big city for a short stay!

We loved Brisbane! It as great to explore the city and to head over to South Bank and ride on the Brisbane Wheel!

Season 7 : Episode #155 : Taking on Crew and Dropping a Lunch Hook

Hello Friends,

On this episode we leave Cabrillo Harbor Anchorage after a fun but rolly stay and head over to the Isthmus to pick up our dear friends Dyer and Kristen of The Black Lotus who will join us for the sail back home.

After picking them up from the fuel dock we motored over behind Blue Cavern Point, The Northwesterlies were blowing between 12-15 knots and Camille had noticed how calm it was behind the point. We wanted to drop a "Lunch Hook" so Camille could teach Kristen how to snorkel in a calm place.

We had a lovely few hours at Crane Point and will for sure be back to this spot for some scuba diving in the future!

Episode #285 : Season 9 : The South Pacific

Hello Friends,
This is an episode that I filmed during my passage between Bora Bora and American Samoa and is meant to explain some of the details of passage making. I talk about everything from the cabin layout for passages to sail plan set up to fishing underway.

I hope this special episode sheds some light on details that often end up on the cutting room floor on the regular passage films.

Episode 391 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we drop the hook at Whitsunday Island in Cid Harbour and make our way a shore to its peak trail. We enjoyed the hike up, watching out for the Stinging trees! Once up top we were blown away by the incredible views of the surrounding waters and islands!

Once back on the boat we headed over to a small anchorage near by and then on to Butterfly Bay on Hook Island where we had one of our most amazing snorkels since arriving to Australia.

Season 5 Episode 94 - Fixing more broken systems on the ship.

On this weeks episode we work on some of the many systems of the boat that need attention as storms pass overhead one after another.

After repairing the water tank hose, relocating the VHF antenna and taping down the GPS antenna we head over to check out the local museum and eventually find ourselves being attacked by razor clams.

If this is the first Yacht Delivery Chronicles video you have seen heres a little bit of background of what this Season and miniseries is all about. This new season follows James and Camille on a delivery onboard a 74ft Power Yacht they were hired to crew on under then command of Captain Dave Stovall. The delivery which was planned for 9 days took 16 days due to failing boat systems and rough spring weather on the coast of the Pacific Northwest.

Season 7 : Episode #172 : Exploring the Magic of Potato Harbor and Speaking with the USCG

Hello Friends,

On this weeks episode we sail off of anchor departing Prisoners Harbor on Santa Cruz Island with a light morning breeze and point for Little Scorpion to meet up with John Conway of SV Felurian.

John and Alanna have started their own Youtube Channel and we encourage everyone to check out their episodes and subscribe : https://www.youtube.com/channe....l/UCS9CLW7y5LqPQkvCy

On our way to Little Scorpion we decided to pop into the very small anchorage of Potato Harbor to have a look and decide to drop a lunch hook and explore this beautiful little anchorage.

While we were in the water the USCG hailed us on the VHF and John, heading to meet us, responded to their call and let them know we were safe and sound and where we were. A fisherman had recovered our adrift dinghy off of Sandy Point on Santa Rosa Island so the USCG had deployed its assists to look for us.

Since we believed our dinghy never left the horseshoe bay of San Miguel we never even considered reporting it missing to the USCG. This was an important lesson to us and now we know to always report a dinghy missing if it is lost either at anchor or under tow.

Thanks again to the United States Coast Guard for keeping all of us mariners safe!

After our chat with the Coast Guard Cutter we made our way to Little Scorpion and rendezvoused with SV Felurian.

Episode #198 : What to expect when visiting Marina del Rey as a guest boater

Hello Friends,

This is a new series I am starting now that we are cruising full-time. These "A Boaters Guide" will be How To/Reviews of transient slips, public docks and moorings and guest anchorages.

I found the process of arriving to Marina del Rey and paying confusing so I decided to start this series to try and make it easier for others who get a slip here to understand the process.

Is there any questions in the video I didn't answer for you? Please let me know so I can make the future episodes even better.

Episode 376 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we provision in Broadwater Bay near Gold Coast and start making our way up inside the Intracoastal Waterway. We had to move the with tides inside the ICW so we only traveled about 10 miles each day. For the first night we anchored at Tipplers Anchorage on South Stradbroke Island and had a wonderful hike across the island seeing kangaroos, wallabies and golden wallabies! We also saw a number of beautiful birds we had never seen before!

Episode #256 : Season 9 : The South Pacific

Hello Friends,

Well the time had finally come to move on and undertake the next big leg of my circumnavigation. I departed Kona, Hawaii after spending 9 months licking my wounds, repairing Triteia and exploring the Hawaiian Islands.

The passage from Hawaii to the Tuamotus took 26 days and covered 2323nm, which should be the longest passage of my entire circumnavigation.

I want to thank my shore team with special thanks to David Frederick and Sarah Koenig for your help during the crossing.

This episode is being released on the one year anniversary of my arrival to Oahu.

I hope you enjoy this film.

Episode 401 : Season 13 : Sailing Indonesia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we head over to the largest of the Banda Islands, Banda Basar with Mr. Man to get a tour of the Nutmeg Plantation. One of my favorite things about sailing the world is getting to travel back in time by knowing the history of a place. The fact that this was the only place in the world Nutmeg, Mace and Cloves grew is mind blowing to me! And with any rare commodity there is a dark side of the history as well with the VOC killing 90% of the Bandanese people.

If you are ever cruising through the Spice Islands make sure you hire Mr. Man for a tour.

Episode 01 : San Diego to Marina Del Rey - with Sailor Commentary at the end of the episode.

This video documents the recent sailing trip I crewed on onboard the sailing vessel The Intrepid. We motor-sailed from San Diego, California to the San Francisco Bay area. 10 days, 111 hours at sea and 470 nautical miles. The uphill battle against wind and currents, sailing north on the west coast is no pleasure cruise.

The crew were as follows:
Tim Brill (Owner)
Cody Brill (Captain and son of Tim)
Nigel Howat (English Sailor/45+ years sailing experience)
& James Frederick (thats me).

I have a blog where you can read all the journal entries about each leg of the passage: http://allwaysbutstill.tumblr.com

I will also be uploaded each leg of the trip as "episodes" that will feature commentary at the end reading some of the journal entries and talking about what happened or what we saw on that particular part of the trip.

Please subscribe if you like the video, there will be more !

About the Crew Members:
Tim Brill was a professional mountaineering guide for many years and has climbed all over the world. A few years ago Tim bought The Intrepid, which became famous in 2008 as it sailed around the world by the youngest person to solo sail around the world (Zac Sunderland). Tim and his sons have completed the ASA certifications 101-108 and have several trips in the planning stages. Currently he is owns an Aerobatic Flight School in Reno, Nevada where he teaches people to fly and to do stunts. http://www.aerobaticcompany.com

Cody Bril is a 15 year old sailor and sailing instructor in Reno, Nevada. He is currently shopping for his dream multihull. http://nvsailing.org

Nigel Howat is certified Ocean Yacht Master and nautical handyman who owns a company with his partner Miel. They also do Yacht deliveries up the California Coast. He has been sailing from more than 45 years and has sailed the North and Mediterranean seas. http://www.nauticalknowhow.org

James Frederick is a Sailor, Writer and Artist who currently resides in Los Angeles.

Episode 375 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we depart Port Stephens in storms to continue our push North to Queensland. The passages from New South Wales to Queensland were some of the most brutal I have experienced, and not because of weather or big seas, but because of the East Australian Current that runs down the coast from Brisbane, making progress very slow and grueling. We averaged 3.5 knots in 24 Horus on some of the legs of this passage, with full motor on and sails up. Clawing our way up the coast was agonizing.

This video is just a collection of the "highlights" as I dont film day after day of motoring up the coast, because it's simply not that interesting.

Hi hi!
Headed back from a weekend at Catalina and what could be better than a wild ale at sea?! Since James got the new fridge up and running I can have a cold beer anytime:) I've been saving this bottle of Oceanna from Propolis Brewing since we visited their taproom when we were in Port Townsend. That delivery was my first and so exciting, I'm glad to have saved a beer from our trip to share with y'all and relive the memory of the delivery. She's slightly sour with a silky body and a refreshing woodsy finish. Hope you enjoy this throw back to our yacht deliver from the PNW as much as I do!

This is just a simple video that corresponds with my larger head project (https://youtu.be/bcPeFUgJAjA ). The Jabsco Y-Valve comes with 1 1/2" ports installed and an additional 1" port that you can switch out for any of the points. This is a handy feature because the Jabsco Macerator Pump has a 1" intake.

There are great videos showing these units taken apart in better detail than my video at: https://www.youtube.com/JabscoMarine

Hello Friends,

I made this video to show my viewers a project that didn't work out. I bought a small 50 watt solar panel that I wanted to install someplace out of the way and decided to try and remake my aft hatch into a solar hatch. I knew that 50 watts doesn't do much for charging your batteries and is more of a trickle charger than anything but I wanted something to keep juice in the batteries when at anchor or if the power went out at the dock. We plan on adding solar to our quarter rails so this would have just been the first small panel in the set up.

I designed the hatch to be positionable using RAM mounts on either side allowing the panel to be adjusted and pointed towards the sun in various directions. I also installed a rubber latch aft so any breaking waves over the stern wouldn't rip the panel off the hinged base.

I took the wood structure to the boat to test fit it and made a critical error during my test fit. I didn't screw the hinges into the new hatch as it would be mounted on the final install. Instead I simply opened it as I would with the regular hatch and it appeared I still had plenty of room to access the lazarette. In doing so I was pivoting the hatch on the lower part of the panel housing and not where the hinges mount to.

In the end I thought the design was a good idea so I wanted to make this video to share with everyone in case this sort of idea can be implemented onto your boat or project in some way.
