After 7 months and 2145NM visiting 85 anchorages, it was time to say goodbye to Australia and sail to Southeast Asia to Indonesia!

This was Rhonda's first ever ocean passage and the first time she had sailed out of the sight of land. The passage took us 6 days and 16 hours a distance of 724NM. We had big winds to start and the big seas that come with them, dodge tons of ships and fishing fleets, made repairs along the way and had a pizza party at sea. You can see the complete pizza making video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apeVd1maSuc&t=1974s on Rhonda's @LoveGrubGalley

I hope you enjoy this long format passage film, my first with someone else onboard Triteia!

Episode #263 : Season 9 : The South Pacific Adventures

Hello Friends,

Making my way into Tuherahera village to have a look around and hunt for some wifi, I saw a pin on google maps that lead me to the mythical “La Cloche De Hina”. I was amazed by the beauty of this remote atoll and loved learning about its local lore.

Sailing Solo Across the Tasman Sea : Sailing Alone Series

Hello Friends,
After more than a year exploring New Zealand it was time to push off across the notorious Tasman Sea. Plan A was to sail to Tasmania and explore its wild islands and coastlines before heading North after cyclone season had finished. Play B was to make landfall at Eden just above Bass Strait and Plan C was to sail to Sydney to clear in.

I had been nervous about this passage for a long time as the Tasman is known to be a very dangerous bit of water. I choose my weather window wisely and pushed off on my last leg across the Great Pacific Ocean.

I have a special episode coming out next that covers my entire Pacific Adventure and talks about how I got into sailing and when I first bought Triteia.

Season 4 | Episode 79 | Fourth of July

On this episode we head off from Los Angeles bound for Button Shell Beach near Whites Anchorage on Catalina Island.

Button Shell is just about exactly half way between Two Harbors and Avalon. Our plan was to get away from the city and all of the fireworks so Camille's Cattle Dog, Mr. Steady, could have a peaceful holiday.

We encountered more problems on this trip than any other trip I have ever done. From a blown out sail to anchoring problems, to a failed bilge pump and a slipped stern anchor..... And the issues continue into the next few episodes documenting this trip.

So come along with us and check out how we deal with the problems as they arise.

Thanks again to all of our Patrons, We are very grateful for your support!

Until Next Week,

Ok, so here it is, the first edition of my new thing "BEERS ON A BOAT". I decided I wanted to start a beer review series so that I can try out different beers I find as we travel on our sailboat SV Triteia. Also I thought it would be a good way to meet people and share brews on other boats as well!

In future episodes I'll also be having cohosts on the show, so we can have beer and talk about it, what we liked or didn't like, and enjoy being on the water together.

On this episode I try out San Pedro Brewery's "Royal Palms" NE IPA. I choose San Pedro Brewery because its down near where we keep our boat and I wanted to start off the series staying local.

Give the video a watch to see what I think about this beer!

https://sanpedrobrewing.com

We will post Episode two in a few weeks time which was filmed under anchor at Little Gibraltar.

Camille

SPECIAL EPISODE - AMAZING FROM AFAR CAMPAIGN (ALL DRONE FOOTAGE COLLECTED UNDER NMFS PERMIT #20605)

Hello Friends,
This is a special episode shot in December of 2021 where I traveled to the Island of Hawaii to tag along with Kimberly Wood as she worked for the Amazing From Afar Campaign organized by Colorado State University in conjunction with NOAA by the principal investigator for AMA Dr. Katie Abrams.

The campaign was designed to help educate the public about the legal distances people must stay away from Hawaii's Spinner Dolphins, Monk Seals and Sea Turtles. The project was launched following the updated restrictions of the new Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) that went into effect in October of 2021.

Spinner dolphins hunt and feed at night and retreat to the calm bays of the Hawaiian Islands in the day to sleep. Being conscience breathers they swim slowly in circles as they sleep (with one half of their mind resting at a time). The general public having access to these bays as well unwittingly disturb their sleep and prevent them from rest. This might be done via swimming, paddle board or by guided tours on boats, some of which are respectful of the dolphins are some of which stalk and harass the dolphins making it impossible for them to sleep.

The AMAZING FROM AFAR TEAM:
Dr. Katie Abrams - principle investigator for AMA

Eric Forbes - Masters student at CSU - Documentary Photographer for AMA

Paige Nakey - Masters student at CSU - Land research assistant for AMA

Mary William - Undergraduate student at CSU - Second drone pilot for AMA

Kimberly A Wood - Freelance field researcher photographer and drone pilot - Remote Pilot in command for AMA

ALL DRONE FOOTAGE COLLECTED UNDER NMFS PERMIT #20605

Some more information from the AMAZING FROM AFAR website : https://www.amazingfromafar.org

Your choices today will forever change Hawai‘i. Make good ones that are Kind to Oceankind.

Sea turtles, spinner dolphins, Hawaiian monk seals, and humpback whales are part of what makes Hawaiʻi special. These animals all have a unique and vital role in the ecosystem.

Whether you’re a visitor, community member, or simply love Hawai‘i, we all have a responsibility to ensure these precious species are here for us, future generations, and continue to remain a special part of Hawaiʻi.

The simplest first step you can take is to always admire wildlife from afar.

You also consider yourself a respectful person. So show your respect and care for the wildlife and people who call this place home. It’s our kuleana (responsibility) to mālama `āina (care for the land and sea).

More and more people are showing they are respectful and care by never getting too close to wildlife, especially these endangered and threatened species.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These species are amazing from afar. Viewing distances have been set by the U.S. federal government. Knowing and following these minimum distances from wildlife not only saves you from legal fines and a guilty conscience, it also protects wildlife, maintains the ecological balance, and shows your respect for the Hawaiian people.

Never Get Closer Than:
● 10 feet (3 m) from sea turtles

● 50 feet (15 m) from monk seals

● 50 yards / 150 feet (46 m) from spinner dolphins

● 100 yards / 300 feet (91 m) from humpback whales

If you are approached by a spinner dolphin, take immediate action to move away 50 yards. Why might a spinner dolphin approach?
Distances apply to all ways in which you or something you control could get close to wildlife no matter where they roam.

That includes swimming or paddling (kayak, stand-up paddle board, canoe), operating a motorized vessel, or flying a drone, helicopter, or plane. When sea turtles or monk seals are on land or in shallow tide pools, the distances still apply.

Episode 348 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa

Hello Friends,
On this episode I made the slow crawl North to Spirits Bay to be in place to sail down to the South Island of New Zealand. As I mention on the video, I am not sure how to make motoring for 200 miles interesting so I have just put together a few of the highlights of the passage. I show a few of the Anchorages and show me catching a Kahawai Fish and how I prepared it for dinner.

Episode 319 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa

Hello Friends,
On this episode I round Cape Brett and sail for the amazingly protected harbor of Whangamumu. Once the hook was set and secure I head ashore to meet up with my friend Zhané, a professional sailor from the R. Tucker Thompson tall ship and and a solo sailor with her own boat.

Zhané showed me around the abandoned whaling station and then we hiked up to check out the waterfalls above the ruins. We then hopped in the dinghy and headed off to check out the sea caves that populate the cliffsides of the harbor.

Hello Friends,

This is a special episode where I talk about a last minute Yacht Delivery I was hired to crew on one week ago today. I explain what happened with the boat, what my concerns were with taking the boat to sea and the ins/outs of yacht deliveries.

We had intended on driving the 38ft wooden fishing boat from Westport, Washington to the San Francisco Bay. Our plans were doom from the beginning...

Thanks to Captain David Stovall for referring me for the job and thanks to Captain Patrick Browne for hiring me.

Season 5 Episode 96 - Pushing out into the Pacific Ocean and finding safe harbor in La Push

On this weeks episode we depart Neah Bay and beat into the Pacific Ocean at night. Just after sunrise our electrical system begin to fail. With the voltmeter spiking and the relays screaming we come about and point for the La Push, Washington and are escorted over the bar by the U.S. Coast Guard Station Quillayute River ( https://www.facebook.com/uscoa....stguardstationquilla )

We would like to thank the Coast Guard Crews for assisting us!

Once safely tied up and after a much needed nap Camille and myself head out to explore the incredible beaches of La Push with its massive trees washed ashore and endless driftwood. We also flew the drone out to get a view of this remarkable coastline from the sky.

If this is the first Yacht Delivery Chronicles video you have seen heres a little bit of background of what this Season and miniseries is all about. Episode #300 - Sailing Alone Series (no.5)

Hello Friends,

This is the latest installment of my Sailing Alone Series.

On this film I sail 1100 nautical miles to New Zealand from Fiji after a full season in the islands of the South Pacific. This was easily the most challenging passage I have had since leaving Hawaii with conditions being either extremely calm or heavy weather. I was faced with days of being becalmed then days of 30+ knots of wind and rain and then back to being becalmed. This went on for the entire 15 day passage.

My engine only lasted long enough to get me outside the reefs of Fiji and after I shut it off it never restarted again. I ended up rebuilding it in Opua, New Zealand.

I hope you enjoy this latest long format film.

| Season 3 | Episode 51

Welcome to Season 3 of my channel!

On this episode we push off from the Alsvik Marina on the island of Yxlan and motor through the archipelago to the city and fort of Vaxholm. Vaxholm was a lovely harbor with lots a faculties, shops and an incredible fort I explored the day we arrived. It was nice to finally be back to civilization after such a long stretch of being in the wild islands of Åland.

This season will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Åland Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip.

Thanks for watching and if you enjoy the content please leave a comment and like below or you can donate as little as a dollar a video if you are so inclined on our patreon page.
