Hello Friends,
This is an edit of a video I made in 2015 of a fun "Monster Mash Regatta" we sailed in. I use to race on a Santana 30/30 named Wahzoo and for this race the captain decided we would go as A Clockwork Orange.
Just a fun little video to get y'all in the Halloween spirit!
Thanks for watching and Happy Halloween!

James

Episode #200 - Exploring A New Anchorage Hello Friends,
On this episode we haul up at Parson's Landing and have a perfect slow sail to Big Geiger Cove. We check out Doctors Cove on the way down and decided to keep moving.
Once at Big Geiger Cove we anchored in 20ft of water with 5 scope out and I rowed out our full stern ground tackle to the shore. With Triteia set into the low slow swell we settled in. The shoreside faculties belong to the Ocean Cruising Club and two of their members, also anchored in the cove in a beautiful 1988 Gand Banks, came over and welcomed us and said it would be no problem for us to go ashore and hike out.
Everywhere in California the beaches up to the high water mark are PUBLIC BEACHES... always remember that! There are NO PRIVATE BEACHES IN CALIFORNIA. But the land behind the high water mark at this location is a private lease and we thanked them for their hospitality.
After a hike up top we explored the rocky coasts by dinghy. Checking out the other anchorages and sea caves and enjoying the summer sun and light winds. If you enjoy our channel please "Like" the videos and Subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes.

Sailing Alone Series : SOLO TO THE SOUNDS
Hello Friends,
Welcome to another long format passage film. On this video I haul in in the dark of night at Spirits Bay in the Far North of New Zealand's North Island and sail down the west coast to New Plymouth before crossing the notorious Cook Strait to D'Urville Island.
This passage was a great shake down sail to prepare me for upcoming Solo Tasman Crossing.

Season 4 | Episode 70 | Sailing to the Island to ring in the New Year
On this episode we introduce Mr. Steady, Camille's pup, to life and sea and take him along with us to ring in the new year on Catalina Island at the Isthmus.
While the conditions didn't make for good sailing weather they sure made for fantastic dolphin watching!
We are greeted by almost endless amounts of dolphins on a glassy sea as we make our way across to Isthmus Cove to pick up a mooring for the night.
Thanks again to all of our Patrons!!!!
Until Next Week,

Welcome to YARNS; Conversations with Cruisers, A Sailing Podcast
James Frederick sits down with sailors he meets around the world to record their seas stories in remote anchorages and far-flung ports. All the interviews are recorded as a video podcast that is released on the Sailing Triteia YouTube Channel. They are also being made available as an audio podcast for those who prefer this format of content.
On this episode I interview Lin Pardey and David Haigh onboard David’s 40-foot steel Van de Stadt sloop, Sahula. If you know anything about sailing, Lin needs no introduction. Her books have inspired millions of people to get out and see the world onboard small boats. She was one of the main reasons I thought this sailing dream, on a small boat with a limited budget. I had only just met David on the day of this interview but had done a bit a research on him ahead of time and read about his 11 year circumnavigation that was a combination of solo and short handed sailing taking him to unique places in the world, off the normal circumnavigation routes.

#100k #livestream #solosailing #vlog
(Originally Published August 2014)
33.76116° N , 118.19073° W - 74° F - 16:30
On August 20th we set out to test the drawing machine aboard the 34’ sailboat Sea Dragon captained by Taylor Zepeda. Leaving port in Long Beach Harbor we made our way out past the breakwater into the open ocean.
During the trip I created 3 test drawings of the drawing machine Drawn At Sea.
The first test – Blue (16:30-17:30) began on the table in the cabin, level with the waters surface and the calmness the harbor provided resulted in very little movement of the drawing tray. After relocating the machine to the stern of the ship sitting just behind the till more motion was recorded.
The second test – Red (17:30-18:30) drawing was done out on the open sea floating and bobbing under no power with the drawing machine placed just fore of the mast. This resulted in the most dramatic drawing as the ocean tossed us between its waves. The waters fairly calm but rolling enough to keep the machine in motion.
The third test – Black (18:30-20:00) drawing was done returning from the open sea under sail power. Sailing with only the Jib we cruised at about 5 knots tacking through the bay making our way back to port. Under sail the boat glided across the surface stable and strong, this created the quietest drawing of the set sending the tray in motion as we tacked. The sun was setting and small racing sailboats competed to the south of us as we slowed with the calming breeze and floated into the harbor and finally to dock.

Hello fine friends,
Hope you're staying cool and safe in these wild times. I stopped by Angel City Brewery in the Arts District here in Los Angeles and picked up the Most Amazing goody bag, specially put together by my friend Leticia. In the video I go over their women brewed Strawberry Blonde, and review the Plum Saison that Angel City brewed in collaboration with the Pink Boots Society. Such a fun beer! The history of the Saison is really interesting.
Also Leticia gave me a 6er of Avocado Kolsch (AND I DRANK IT ALL TO MESELF;) ha! but I say a little bit about it in the video, and highly recommend trying it if you can get your paws on some. I say its sort of like a brown ale in the video but, it is MUCH lighter, just to be clear!
Thank you so much for watching, please leave comments and questions that you might have. Thank you again Angel City Brewery!
Love,
Camille

Episode 03 : Ventura to Santa Barbara - with Sailor Commentary at the end of the episode.
This video documents the recent sailing trip I crewed on onboard the sailing vessel The Intrepid. We motor-sailed from San Diego, California to the San Francisco Bay area. 10 days, 111 hours at sea and 470 nautical miles. The uphill battle against wind and currents, sailing north on the west coast is no pleasure cruise.
The crew were as follows:
Tim Brill (Owner)
Cody Brill (Captain and son of Tim)
Nigel Howat (English Sailor/45+ years sailing experience)
& James Frederick (thats me).
I have a blog where you can read all the journal entries about each leg of the passage: http://allwaysbutstill.tumblr.com
I will also be uploaded each leg of the trip as "episodes" that will feature commentary at the end reading some of the journal entries and talking about what happened or what we saw on that particular part of the trip.
Please subscribe if you like the video, there will be more !
About the Crew Members:
Tim Brill was a professional mountaineering guide for many years and has climbed all over the world. A few years ago Tim bought The Intrepid, which became famous in 2008 as it sailed around the world by the youngest person to solo sail around the world (Zac Sunderland). Tim and his sons have completed the ASA certifications 101-108 and have several trips in the planning stages. Currently he is owns an Aerobatic Flight School in Reno, Nevada where he teaches people to fly and to do stunts. http://www.aerobaticcompany.com
Cody Bril is a 15 year old sailor and sailing instructor in Reno, Nevada. He is currently shopping for his dream multihull. http://nvsailing.org
Nigel Howat is certified Ocean Yacht Master and nautical handyman who owns a company with his partner Miel. They also do Yacht deliveries up the California Coast. He has been sailing from more than 45 years and has sailed the North and Mediterranean seas. http://www.nauticalknowhow.org
James Frederick is a Sailor, Writer and Artist who currently resides in Los Angeles.

The "Post Passage Post" series is only available to my Patrons and is recorded and released a day or two after I finish an ocean passage. I have decided to start slowly releasing some them to the public as ARCHIVE footage if they are more than a year old. This was the first PPP video I made and was published on September 30th, 2022.

Ahoy Patrons,
I had an idea to start doing these Passage Debriefings (except no one was questioning me so not really a debriefing).
I hope you guys enjoy these video.

Episode 369 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia
Hello Friends,
On this episode we awake in the fog at Twilight Inlet surrounded by birdsong, once the morning sun cleared the way we headed out to explore more of Cowan Creek. After getting fuel and water at Cottage Point, we enjoyed a slow sail amidst the chaos of the weekend boat (and plane) traffic and spend the day bay hoping to see as much as we could.

PROJECT VIDEO: Cutting Holes in Boats
Hello Friends,
This is the first part in a series of videos showing you how I replaced our original forward hatch with a Lewmar Ocean Series 65 hatch.
Our original forward hatch was very bad at keeping the sea out and the frame had rotted to the point of no longer supporting the hinges so it was time to deal with this problem. I decided to replace the hatch with a serious ocean going hatch that I new I could trust when we are doing ocean passages and large seas tear across the deck. There was really only one choice for me, a Lewmar Ocean Series 65.
I went with the trapezoid shape to keep the same look as the original and I picked mine up on eBay for 95 dollars. The lens has crazing but me and Camille were not concerned with this and it can easily be replaced later on.
On this episode I mark the position of the new base and cut out the hole for the new slightly larger hatch.

| Season 3 | Episode 49
Welcome to Season 3 of my channel!
On this episode we explore the island of Björkör and are shown around the original farm house and property by the groundskeeper Kaj. It was an amazing time capsule or sorts with most of the belongings left as they were when the owner passed away in 1962.
This season will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Ã…land Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip.
Thanks for watching and if you enjoy the content please leave a comment and like below or you can donate as little as a dollar a video if you are so inclined on our patreon page.

Ahoy Friends!
I am VERY stoked to present to you my first sailing book; SIX NIGHTS ON THE HOOK AT SANTA CRUZ ISLAND.
I have published a number of books in the past and worked as a writer for both in print and online publications but this is my first, of many, books on the subject of sailing.
SIX NIGHTS is perfect bound paperback book with 133 pages. It features all of my journals from my first solo sailing trip and solo anchoring experiences. This trip came 8 months after I first bought Triteia and 5 months after I had gotten her back into sailing condition.
This trip was documented in video episodes first here on my channel as Season 2. The book goes a bit deeper into what I was thinking, my highs and my lows and describes things that may have been passed over in the short video episodes.
The book can be purchased at:
https://svtriteia.bigcartel.com
This book is print on demand and will require approximately two weeks for delivery from the printer.
As I mentioned in the video I don't expect to make a fortune with this book but maybe it will lead to more writing opportunities with sailing publications.
I look forward to copies finding their way into sailors ship's libraries and would love to see photos of the book in the wild for any of you who buy a copy for your boat.
So head over to our shop and pick a copy up if you are interested!
Thanks,
James
