Longer version at katamarans.com/bowline-on-a-bight/ ? The Bowline on the Bight is a double-loop variation of the bowline. Tie it in the centre of a line when you need a loop and you can't easily get to either end. ? It makes a good hoist if you have to lower or raise someone, with one loop the seat and the other under the armpits and around the chest. The loops should not slip and it shouldn't jam after strain. ? With a doubled up rope, make a small overhand loop as you would in a Bowline. Thread the end of the bight up through the loop. ? Open the end of the doubled rope and bring it down and around as shown and tighten. ? ? ? #sailing #multihulls #catamarans #knots #ropes #learnknots #learntosail #katschool #knot #rope #lovesailing #sailinglife #katamarans #bowlineonthebight

As a complete newbie to the sailing world, I had no idea where to start my liveaboard life and I had so much to learn. But first things first. I bought a sailboat, an old wooden ex fishing boat, build for rough seas, 40 ft long and over 15t heavy. But before the sailing life begins I have to do a lot of work, from re caulking to placing planks and wood rot, repainting and anti fouling as well as turning the whole inside into a beautiful homely living space. Come along and help me figure out how to live on a boat and how to sail.
