They don`t birthdays in Japan. Here is why. In my travels across Japan, I’ve noticed something striking: many older people don’t count their birthdays. In the West, we measure life as a straight line— birth, growth, productivity… then decline. But what if that’s the wrong model? In Japan, aging feels different.
