Saint Tropez…the chic playground of the rich, choc full of super yachts - is it somewhere worth visiting as liveaboard sailors cruising the Mediterranean? Check out our latest episode on YouTube to find out….. https://youtu.be/9RG4-tRYe3Q Whilst it’s a place synonymous with money, and one of most chic resorts in the world, underneath it’s still a charming old town steeped in history and culture and, surprisingly, we found that there are anchorages and marinas within a reasonable distance and budget. Come with us and check out this gem of the French Riviera as well as the Little Venice of Provence - Port Grimaud. #followintrepidbear #sailing #sailinglife⛵️ #liveaboardsailboat #liveaboardsailors #sailingaddicts #sailor #mediterraneanlife #cotedazur #sttropezsummer #portgrimaud #mediterraneansailing #sailingthemed #ouradventures #myboatandi2023
For centuries sailors have navigated their way across the oceans by celestial navigation or nautical astronomy - using a sextant with the sun, moon, planets, and stars. For the modern sailor, it is essential when crossing oceans as back up to the modern and much relied upon electronic navigation. If you are curious about how to use a sextant or have taken the RYA Yachtmaster or Ocean Theory courses, or are even self-taught, our celestial sailing weekends are ideal offering both an introduction and a refresher. All are welcome. A big advantage is that you learn in a small group, under the supervision of an expert instructor. The weekends involve sailing along the south side of the Isle of Wight and back up through the Needles. A beautiful area to sail whilst offering ample opportunity to practice using the sextant.
