We go inside a teepee along the river and jam on the guitar before we head for Idaho City. Once we got there, we had to dodge the deer as dusk had already fallen on our way back to the city. Part of doing an engine check before going out is to check the raw water strainer. Because the water is, well, raw. It is seawater that helps to cool the engine and move the exhaust out of the boat. Grass can show up in seawater, so can critters. We opened the strainer, and something popped out. I told Cindy, "Keep track of that spring!" Then the spring kept flopping around. WOW! Truckers would call the procedure a pre-trip. I never caught a fish while pre-tripping a truck.

These are the Superlight versions of Bromptonβs folding bikes, which, with several structural components and accessories made from titanium, weight nearly a kilogram less than the all-steel versions. Very handy. An advantage of the Garcia Exploration 45 over other yachts is that when sitting on the hard it is not as high off the ground. The centreboard is raised and the boat is resting on its hull at the front, with a low support at the rear. Some of the keel boats around us are scary high. Eek!
