This has to be one of the quirkiest sailing catamaran designs out there. The Island Hopper 37 was developed by Uwe Jasperson (JAZ Marine) who was involved in the early Gunboats. ▫️ This coastal cruiser is 37' high performance cruising cat with a forward cockpit. The boat a real "Jetsons" feel to it : a great boat for fast cruising and weekend trips. ▫️ It's a pretty unique design, from the forward cockpit (very unusual in this size of yacht) to the light displacement and galley-down design, this boat focuses on performance, a boat to sail. I believe they only made a couple of them, so ultimately this was too niche for the market back then. ▫️ What are your thoughts? Launch day of the Skoota 28 powercat. On board the builder, his wife and the designer. A general view of the boat. Twin 20hp outboards give 15.5 knots or 10 knots with just one engine. Note the cockpit seat backs have still to be finished and the boat is trimmed aft because all the tools are in the cockpit and the cabin is empty You can build this powercat yourself in plywood using plans from Woods Designs.
