This winter is a La Niña season, which translates to a "secret summer" for locals: the winds are calm, the skies are clear, and the light is cinematic. It is the antithesis of the blustery, foggy summer. Come boating this winter - it's inviting, mild, and calm.

A strong start today for the 49er teams at the Olympic qualifier in Lanzarote. Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove Team Dickson Waddilove 49er Ireland topped the Day 1 leader-board with Ryan Seaton and Séafra Guilfoyle Out2Win Ryan & Séafra placing an 11-8-8 for the day. Conditions off Playa Blanca in the straits between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were very unpredictable in the fresh trade-wind conditions with added ocean swell. “It was very tricky with the wind coming off the mountains so a ‘head out of the boat’ day but all-in-all, a great start to the regatta,” commented James O’Callaghan, Irish Sailing’s Performance Director. “There’s a long way to go in this regatta but we couldn’t have asked for a better start.” We'll be posting updates here daily.
