A Humpback whale sings then breaches close enough for Nicole to feel the splash! Nicole filmed this while swimming in the open ocean near Moorea, French Polynesia (by Tahiti). Nothing to do with sailing but too good not to share with you right away... By the way, we were being guided by a whale expert who ensured we did not impact the whale in any way. Before this encounter we swam some distance away from a boat that was drifting with it's engine off, then allowed the whale to approach us (or not) on his own terms. I was at Catalina Harbor on the "Hawaii side" of Catalina Island about 25 miles off the coast from Los Angeles. As I walked towards the Pacific, the fog started to roll in off the ocean. It rolled past "the pregnant lady" ridge and up the canyon on the opposite side of the harbor. A very beautiful but eerie sit sight.
