To avoid terrible sailing conditions, we made the bold choice to cross the notorious Sulu Sea from Malaysia to Palawan, stopping overnight on an island deep in the red zone!? Known for pirate activity and unpredictable weather, this quickly became one of our most intense and nerve-wracking passages yet. For the last 40 years, there has been a curious hole in the ASA curriculum, with ASA 101 leading directly into ASA 103. This spring, our schools will start teaching our exciting new course, ASA 102: Keelboat 2. This course is for any sailor interested in building their core sailing skills. This includes becoming more proficient at sail trim and close-quarter maneuvering. It also includes improving your crew skills and working together as a team to make your vessel move more efficiently through the water.
