boma: (s.m.) (Alberatura e vele) boom Asta orizzontale utilizzata sui velieri per mantenere distesa una vela di tipo triangolare, normalmente una randa. Il boma della randa (o della trinchetta) è fissato all'albero con un perno rotante mentre l'altro capo ruota trattenuto da una cima (chiamata "scotta") permettendo di variare l'orientazione della vela rispetto al vento. Meno comune è l'uso del boma per le vele di prua (fiocco bomato, trinchetta bomata); in tal caso il boma è imperniato sul relativo strallo ed è regolato da una scotta. bonaccia: (s.f.)
