Killyleagh Yacht Club turned on the weather for the second open event of the the Strangford Lough summer of sailing. With sixteen boats on the starting line for the YTC 1 races there was close racing throughout the whole of the fleet. Race 1 was a close shoot out between the Mat1010 Elixir, J109 GTR and the local A35 for Mike Spence Le Basceleur. With the lead swapping many times both on corrected time and over the water it was Le Basceleur that came out on top closely followed by the Redline Racing team on the J109 GTR. The team at bottom up boats hope that you enjoy this short clip from our 2024 season on the water. Song: Cartoon, Jéja - On & On (feat. Daniel Levi) [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds Free Download/Stream: http://ncs.io/onandon Watch: http://youtu.be/K4DyBUG242c

Erraid is a small, rugged tidal island, one mile square, considered to be one of the driest, sunniest spots on the west coast of Scotland. It is located at the tip of the Ross of Mull. Traigh Gheal, or David Balfour's Bay, is situated on its south side. Read our guest blog from Moonshadow Yacht Charters on their visit: https://www.sailscotland.co.uk/news/posts/2017/the-isle-of-erraid/ Scotland offers sailing as it should be… there’s space and freedom. And the choice to do a lot – or do next to nothing – in this spectacular setting. It’s uncrowded and unspoilt, and life here moves at a different pace. People come specially to see basking sharks, puffins, seals, dolphins and eagles. They sail. They walk along beaches and coastal paths, explore local history and photograph their surrounds. They eat fresh seafood at stylish cafes and vibrant marinas. They enjoy the friendly traditional pubs. They browse shops in bustling coastal towns and villages. They picnic on beaches that are near-deserted, even in the height of summer. Or just sit and watch the tides, the sunsets and the stars.
