We’re approaching the Bab el‑Mandeb Strait—one of the most notorious chokepoints in the world and a place sailors don’t take lightly. But just as we prepare to pass through, I’m suddenly below deck battling in the engine room. Instead of calmly approaching the strait, we’re trying to keep the boat running.
