Goodbye, Wahine… for now. I’m heading to mainland Japan for a few weeks to work on the second draft of my book and continue research. Life aboard a sailboat, especially in typhoon season, means constant prep. She’s secured, bug-bombed (yuck), and floating in Buren Bay by an abandoned Pearl Farm. I paddled ashore on Mitsu’s SUP just before the fumes kicked in. Boat life teaches adaptability. Writer’s life demands solitude and space. This journey blends both. I’ll be back in a few weeks. First time in the Atlantic!! We have a furler problem we need to fix so we are heading out around marathon key. Off grid living comes with it’s unique set of problem that need fixing. Especially when off grid means living on a boat. We were anchored on the gulf side and the boat yard is on the Atlantic side so away we go! Two hour cruise around the island to get to a spot that would take ten minutes to walk to lol! Quit a large change of pace from life on land to living on a boat! Thankfully we are no longer in a rush to do much of anything these days, so a little day cruise is under way! Sadly the sails stay down for this one. Next time though.
