Le Vendée Globe 2012 est la course autour du monde en solitaire sans escale et sans assistance qui passe par les trois caps, le Cap de Bonne Espérance, le Cap Leeuwin et le Cap Horn. Le départ de la course est donné des Sables d'Olonne tous les quatre ans. Les éditions précédentes ont été remportées par Titouan Lamazou, Alain Gautier, Christophe Auguin, Michel Desjoyeaux et Vincent Riou. Lars' girlfriend arranged a surprise sail & swim for his 27th birthday, and Montauk gave him perfect conditions for a perfect outing. We sailed up behind hither woods for a picnic and swim and then had a easy reach under blue skies and fair winds back to Montauk Inlet to finish the day.
