As I continue traveling through Japan’s longevity hotspots, I keep hearing a surprisingly common response from people who remain active, healthy, and engaged deep into old age: “I don’t worry too much.” And I notice something else as well. They laugh easily. This Short is another small Field Note from my ongoing research into healthy aging, community, and what I call “Red Zone Rebels”, people who seem to compress the years of decline often associated with old age. One of the most spectacular dive sites on the Agincourt Reef system, the pinnacle is in a depth of 25m to 16m mid point behind a small ribbon reef. This site is current prone and can only be dived in an incoming tide, as a result there is a large number of different species of fish.
