Salona 45 raced by the Irish Defence Force in the Beaufort Cup beating up the shore to stay out of the tide shortly after the start of the Harbour Race of Cork Week 2024. With over 100 boats on the start line everyone was fighting for air shortly after the start, with the tide coming in all day it paid to get right early to find both clear air and some relief from the stronger tide out in the main channel. A quick intro to a relatively new feature, the carbon fiber steering wheel! We got a chance to see ours being built. Picking it up makes it feel like it is made from balsa wood. The weight of the assembly just about doubles when the stainless steel hub is added.

Went to Jetty Park Beach today to see if we thought the washed out beach might be worth taking our metal detector to search for treasures. The beach erosion was more than we thought but I believe we will plan a trip back with the detector. never know what kind of treasures you might find!
