For those interested in the Day Skipper Course, Sailing experience and basic boat handling knowledge is required. This 7-day course will help you and give you the tools to becoming a confident skipper. Included will be things like pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and navigation and that you can skipper or rent a yacht in familiar waters by day. For Competent Crew participants, we will be doing this course between Fort Lauderdale, Cay Biscayne, the Florida Keys and back. The aim for this course is to introduce a complete beginner to cruising under sail, equipping the novice sailor with skills required to be an active, useful crew member, i.e. knowledge about sea terms and parts of the boat, sail handling, ropework, fire precautions and prevention, personal safety equipment, man overboard, emergency equipment, meteorology, seasickness, helmsmanship, general seamanship and manners, able to keep a lookout and handle all sails. Schön, dass du hier bist! Wir, Emely und Tjark, haben uns den Traum vom eigenen Segelboot erfüllt, eine Maxi84, relativ spontan und ohne das ganz große Geld. Das Boot müssen wir noch umtaufen auf den Namen Meera. Wir nehmen dich mit auf unsere Reise von blutigen Anfängern zu hoffentlich passablen Seglern. Bevor wir uns in die Wellen stürzen können, liegt noch ein Berg an Arbeit vor uns. Umbauten, Änderungen und vor allem der Sportbootführerschein müssen erledigt werden.
