We took quite a few clips of our trip from Cascais, Portugal to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, though most are too big to optimise for the web. This one, however, best captures the crew relaxing whilst we bobbed up and down those Atlantic swells. Johnny on the trampoline, Tim showing off his balls and Dave reading. A rare sight. But after traveling across Japan’s longevity hotspots and researching healthy lifespan, I increasingly wonder whether separating generations may actually accelerate decline rather than slow it. This article is not simply a criticism. It is also a reflection on how we might design aging communities differently, places where older people remain part of the wider rhythm of life rather than parked outside it.
