J109 Going to Red gliding by J122E Javelin during Volvo Cork Week 2024. The bright yellow kite on Javelin was hard to miss at the looked to get deep on the run. It was all smile on Going to Red with the crew giving the competitors on Javelin a wave as they glided by. The team at bottom up boats hope you enjoy these shorts bits from our 2024 racing season. This video was captured by Nita CJ (our Tour Leader) and shows two female Komodo Dragons fighting over a nest site on Rinca Island, Komodo National Park in Indonesia. Mating takes place between May and August and the eggs are laid in September. Once a nest site is chosen and won, the female Komodo will then lay as many as 20 eggs and they then incubate for seven to eight months, hatching in April when insects are plentiful at the end of the rainy season Young Komodo dragons are vulnerable and therefore dwell in trees, safe from predators, and cannibalistic adults. They take eight to nine years to mature and are estimated to live up to 30 years.
