As we sailed a pod of dolphins started jumping in the bow wake. Deb jacked in and went forward with the camera to get some pictures. I just shot a quick video of her, but caught some of the dolphins jumping also. Watch the left side of the bow pulpit.

#katknots 🥨 Rolling Hitch. We haven't done any knots for a while, and we think this one is an essential one to have in your locker. This knot hitches a new line to an existing line (or chain). ▫️ You can use it to take the load off a jammed winch (normally the jib or Code 0 sheet). Or it comes in handy for making an adjustable bridle, if the swell and wind are coming from different directions. ▫️ Tie the first half hitch in the direction of the load (eg towards the sail or anchor). Then go round the standing end, come over again and tuck through the gap. The trick is to keep wrapping in the same direction, towards the load. ▫️ You should be able to see a dog leg or link in the original line and be able to slide the knot forward towards the load. It shouldn't budge pulling in the opposite direction. ▫️ You can tie this with one less wrap or "roll", it will depend on what size your lines are and what type of material the rope is made out of. The first Sirius 35 DS (DS for deck saloon) was delivered by Sirius Yachts, a boutique German yard, in 2010. We tested the 81st hull and it’s likely no two are the same. There are seven different keel configurations, two-, four- and six-berth layouts, the midships berth can be an office, the technical room - a genius space designed to make maintenance a doddle - has even been converted to a sauna for one owner. The layout can be what you want it to be. What makes Sirius Yachts stand out, however, is the attention to detail: this is clearly a yacht designed and built by people who go cruising a lot and come up with solutions when they find something that annoys them. We could make another video and still not cover everything that stands out about this yacht. Fastidiously and robustly built (cored above the waterline and areas over 40mm of solid laminate below), with the storage of a much larger yacht, this brand makes boats that their owners appreciate as second homes. Fifteen years after first testing it, Chris Beeson is still hugely impressed.
