The Stevedore's knot is a powerful stopper knot, like a super-charged Figure of Eight knot. 🔸 Make an overhand loop like you would in the figure-of-eight. Bring the working end round a couple of times instead of one (or just twist the loop) and tuck it through the original loop. Tighten Voilà! Easy! We are on day two of our passage in the Gulf Stream. Our parents said our boat is hauling quickly through the water from 2 to 4 knots of current in the direction we are traveling.
