While we already liked the Elite 7 with DownScan thanks to its large seven-inch screen and robust construction (see Sonar Smack-Down), Lowrance has improved the unit by adding limited CHIRP abilities. This seems to be Lowrance's answer to Raymarine's Dragonfly, which is another form of "CHIRP light." (Read Raymarine Dragonfly: A Whole New Breed of Fishfinder, for more info, and note that Raymarine has announced a new, larger, seven-inch version is in the works and will be on the market soon with pricing expected to be in the neighborhood of $1,000.). Our very own taster of a Lake Race at Rutland Sailing Club - Mike Threadgill on the helm and Dave Grundy crewing. Glorious sailing conditions which took us all round Rutland Water. We came in second!!! - not bad for our first race ;)

HAVSÖRNEN is a very fine example of Scandinavian design and boat building from Tore Holm at the peak of his powers with the build supervised by him in his family yard. Well maintained by her present owner, including a major winter refit 2016-2017 in her last ownership; she has over the years excelled on the Mediterranean regatta circuit and has also proven herself a very capable cruising yacht. Her seaworthy hull provides good headroom below, and the interior finish is a delight. HAVSÖRNEN is coming back to our list very shortly; we raced her in St Tropez some 5 years ago and she is fun to sail; quick to accelerate and potentially a race winner in the Vintage Class…S&S Yawls watch out!?
